Herbert gets body-slammed to the turf. Looks like his night is done. Probable bruised or broken ribs based on where he's grabbing. Game over.

Edit: Holy crap, never mind, he's back in. It looked awful live and on replay.

Now Herbert can get his garbage time TD and make his stats for the night look good (still a chance for >300 yards, 3 TD's and just the 1 (backbreaking) pick). Really a pretty bad night of offensive football. Chargers netted 10 points on 10 possessions (0 on 6 in the 2nd half with the opening drive TD cancelled out by the pick six), Chiefs netted 20 points on 10 possessions.

The onside nearly worked.

**** the Chiefs, man. Mahomes gets bailed out of three or four INTs between drops and dubious calls, only puts up 20 points on offense, gets a huge division win anyways

Herbert threw to Everett multiple times on that drive and was keyed on him for the pick six. Even if they kept Everett out there so the defence wouldn't be given time to substitute he or the OC could have told Herbert not to throw to him because he was gassed. Entertaining game. Is it Monday yet?

It’s awful. And it’s been awful for awhile with the chargers. Never a fun team to watch for 4 quarters
Watched part of the game last week, and I thought for sure they were going to blow the Raiders out, but they seem inconsistent. Then again- we're used to either scoring or turning the ball over on every drive, so most offenses are going to pale in comparison, haha.

Horrendous decision to force that pass.

Really hope the Chargers come back to win this. Beyond the fact that I'm sick of the Chiefs in general, it's disgusting that Mahomes has yet to play a road playoff game in his career

The 10 point swing of Samuel dropping the INT in the end zone on the last drive is gonna haunt LAC.

Oh my god, why are you running into the teeth of their defense on 3rd and 2?

It's like they replaced Staley with Marrone
I said it before- but I've thought the Chargers coaching would hold them back. Time will tell if they can put it all together, but they're clearly a tier or two below contender status. The season is long, though, and I do hope they put it together. Just not at the expense of the Bills!

I really, *really* hope McD has learned that you can't win against the Chiefs by trying to play the field position game. If you're gonna lose, go out swinging, not punting on 4th and short from midfield and settling for chip shot field goals.

I read an interesting old Kotaku article that compared football to DnD and other turn-based games rather than considering it a time-based game. And, from that perspective, maximizing the efficiency of your turns becomes much more important. You just can't have too many empty possessions and, more importantly, you can't *choose* to have empty possessions. If you're pinned deep, or have a 4th and forever situation? Sure, punt. Outside of that and some time-specific scenarios--i.e. end of the half where turning the ball over on downs means the Chiefs are instantly in FG/TD range or at the end of the game, up multiple scores--willingly giving the ball back to Mahomes seems like a mistake.

Weren’t we aggressive on 4th down against them in the playoffs?

Buffalo Bills (OC: Ken Dorsey)

Week 1: Won 31-10; 413 yards of offense (292 passing, 121 rushing), four turnovers

“Helluva start there, Ken!” — Josh Allen, probably.

Allen looked outstanding, even with two picks, in Dorsey’s debut as the Bills’ new OC. The long-established rapport between the two is clearly paying dividends already, because Allen was locked in against the Rams and showed terrific timing with just about all of his targets — especially Stefon Diggs (that back-shoulder throw from Allen against Jalen Ramsey was ridiculous). He threw for 297 yards with a yards-per-attempt average at 9.6, and he only had to run five times.

He’s exactly where he needs to be as a passer right now, and he’s not in situations where his body has to take a pounding so early in this season.

Where the Bills’ offense needs to be: Right here. Keep Allen’s body as fresh as you can as long as you can and let him win games with his arm — Buffalo has the ability to put a buffer around Allen most weeks. There were some protection issues in this one, but the O-line also spent opening night dealing with Aaron Donald.

The two times we weren't, we fell behind. If we continued to be aggressive, I think we wouldn't have came down to those 13 seconds. KC wasn't stopping Buffalo that game when we were being aggressive.
