Chris Mortensen of ESPN.com reports that Jackson passed on a six-year deal (i.e., a five-year extension) that would have paid him $133 million fully-guaranteed at signing. That’s more than Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray ($103.3 million) and Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson ($124 million) received in full guarantees on longer contracts (seven years each) signed in recent weeks.

Jackson “could have earned” more than $290 million over six years. The new-money average would have exceeded, per Mortensen, the $48.5 million paid by the Broncos to Wilson. (Wilson’s deal was reported as having a new-money average of $49 million; as explained here, the failure to include the value of the 17th-game checks for 2022 and 2023 in the old/new-money comparison drove the average down to $48.5 million.)

It’s unclear how much of the $290 million would have counted as Jackson’s base deal. Including the 17th-game check, he’ll make $24.35 million this year. Subtracting that from $290 million and dividing by five results in an average of $53.13 million. Thus, Jackson apparently would have had to hit certain triggers to earn the kind of money that would have catapulted him to $290 million.
I mean, I kind of get it. He can earn $100 million guaranteed playing on the franchise tag the next 2 years. But still… it’s a risk.

I’m sure glad Josh Allen’s #1 goal wasn’t just to be the highest paid QB ever.

While I don’t think Allen would have pushed for the full guarantee…he did sign before The Browns broke the market for Watson. If I was any QB who was going to get the bag now…the opening ask is for full guarantee. Lamar’s position seems to be he won’t move off of it…but 133 guaranteed is relative weak sauce after Watson. The Ravens are trying to pretend it doesn’t exist but it unfortunately does.

The disconnect between the sides is obvious. As much as it’s Lamar trying to force the Watson contract as the new standard…the Ravens are trying to pretend the next man up doesn’t always get more. Their guarantee total is less than Watson, Murray, Wilson, Rodgers, Allen and Mahomes. And slightly more than Stafford. Even if you agree that’s where Lamar should “slot” in terms of those names…that’s just not how this has ever or will ever work.

Where it should end up is with about 190 guaranteed. Which is more than everyone but Watson who teams have to try to force As the outlier…but more than Kyler got which teams should try to push as the new actual top guaranteed money.

As much as Lamar is all or nothing…turning down 190 would be a story. Turning down 133…is what he should do.

Nice work Ace

Seems like streams arent working. Did the NFL crack down? If anyone has a site for streams- please message me!

Nice Tip from Howard to Holland on the INT in the NE vs MIA game. Lots of air on the ball from Mac. Really needs to work on the arc of the ball in his throws.

Miami's offense looking how I thought. Lots of quick passes, RB swings, little screens, using Hill in multiple ways, etc...Tua has had a few errant passes, but has looked ok in the short to intermediate routes. Also, took a bad sack. Ive noticed he is still struggling throwing on the run. I dont think you see many deep balls on the run from him, but time will tell. Seems like a limited player who can play well in this WC offense.

Watching the games I could get access to, (NE vs MIA), (Pit vs Cin), (DET vs PHL), more props to Sean McD and the coaching staff for having these guys prepared to play at such a high level.

Watching RedZone and everyone looks like trash. I guess even the Bills needed a half to shake off the cobwebs, hopefully it gets better.

ETA: and once teams have 4 weeks of tape on the 'phins with Waddle and Hill, they'll fall off. Tua is still a one trick pony and it's not even a good trick. Count me in the haters club, I don't care. His ceiling is just below Pennington and that will never cut it in today's NFL

OJ Howard has two touchdowns. Which is one more than Tommy Sweeney has in his career. But he’s not friends with Josh Allen so what can you do?

Tuabaint scaring me, man
Mac looks terrible.

Crazy going from watching Allen to these guys. The difference in skill is huge.
