Good work on the Poyer deal. Very happy they’re just letting the season play out instead of committing real money to an extension. As we all expected, they’re throwing some money at him to keep him happy

You called it. And totally agree with this approach.

The secondary just isn’t the position group to put a ton of long term money into…especially older players

Rewatching highlights and goddamn, the D-line reminds me of the line that dragged Manning's corpse to a second SB. Except this time they're playing with a top-3 (at least) QB. F conservatism, we're going undefeated

I’m going with most stacked team ever! 2 or 3 losses where we shoot ourselves in the foot. Then domination in the playoffs!

Why be tempered with expectations!

18-2 baby!

I loved the game, but want to tap the brakes a bit. And, in their post-game interviews, McD and some players did the same - it was one game.

Maybe they knew before the coin toss: the SB winning Rams were "not showing up" as at least 2/3 (!!!!) of that team never saw a snap in pre-season. How is that possible? It's not like they had a zillion draft picks to look over,

Their philosophy was to gamble everything on established stars and, with OBJ out, they threw all night to Cupp while their other WR stud (Robinson?) got only 2 looks? Rams O and D line didn't look ready to be physical, and I went over the highlights 4 times to specifically watch Ramsey...not for just the plays where he got burned by Diggs, but every play he was on the field: almost always a late-arriving spectator, if at all.

This was ALL on Sean McVay. Absolute bitch slap of the Rams fans on their biggest night ever. For a guy who's allegedly such a NFL coaching mastermind, how are they not better prepared for this game?

Maybe the general otherworldly superior self assessment of SoCal as a whole just as a PLACE?

Plenty of teams rested their starters for the pre-season. Or, at least the ones there isn't a battle for the position on. You've got 90+ bodies during the preseason so, removing ~20 for the game still leaves you with 70 on game day, which is way more than the regular 53 man roster. Lots of vets on that team, played into February, hot training camp, injry risk.

I think it's more the Bills are a tier above than the Rams weren't up to their speed.

Honestly, who is he taking reps from on the outside if he came here? He can play the slot, but he is most effective outside. We don’t need him, we have more weapons than we know what to do with.
I wasn’t arguing for signing OBJ. I was just confused as to how he trashed the Bills, when he was nothing but super complimentary about them during + after the game.

I’ve actually already argued in the past against signing him. I didn’t want the snaps being taken away from Davis because 1) I think he’s earned them and 2) if we keep putting guys in front of him I worry he’s not going to want to re-sign here.

I don’t think OBJ is some diva or locker room cancer though, and TBH I used to think he was. But then I started paying closer attention.

I am also kind of coming around on the idea of adding him for a late season push after seeing how they spread the ball around Thursday. The Bills players also really seem to like the idea of adding OBJ. But let’s see how the season goes first. He’s still a ways away from playing.

I think it’s most likely he signs with the rams though. He still seems to consider himself a Ram by the way he’s tweeted and he also showed up to the LA v Buf game wearing a rams Gold/White/Blue.

He could play outside snaps when we slide Diggs into the slot, which they did quite a bit Thursday and I expect to see a lot more now that slot-only Beasley isnt absorbing 100% of those snaps. OBJ-Diggs-Gabe would be a pretty useful personnel grouping.

Also, another narrative from yesterdays game was Diggs overall snap percentage was way down. It appears they’re going to try doing more to keep his snaps down this year in order to keep him fresh. Why not have an OBJ caliber player coming off the bench in those circumstances?

That's obvious and SOP for all teams, including Bills - "resting in pre-season

But that's different than NO SNAPS at all for a full 2/3 of the entire team right up to kick off. No Rams OL or DL chemistry. No Stafford faith in Robinson cuz no reps, etc....

All as reported. Who justifies that malfeasance? NO snaps at all?

I'm not against it. I just don't see the point when you have a rookie who shows real promise as an inactive on game days. I get it, OBJ is way more proven, but who knows what he will be coming off this injury. Also, he hasn't had more than 400 yards receiving in the past 3 years (mostly due to injury but when he did play his stats have been pretty pedestrian). For the vet minimum, sure. But he isn't worth much for half a season.

We can just make the punter inactive in game days for OBJ.

I really like the flexibility of moving Diggs to the slot. He was really good there against the Rams.

Same! It's an over-looked bonus of moving on from Beasley. He was a very good slot receiver, but had no outside flexability, and therefore there was no slot reps available to Diggs. All the best receivers in the league move all over the formation to create mismatches. Now that Beasley isn't absorbing all of those snaps, I'm excited to see Diggs working there a lot more often.

Perhaps he's washed, sure. Perhaps he wouldn't be one of our 6 best receivers, fine. If either of those is the case obviously he wouldn't be signed.

But after seeing the jolt he provided to the super bowl winners? It's very easy to imagine the boost he could provide by stepping in down the home stretch. It's hard to imagine it hurting, at the very least.

McVay never plays his players in the preseason.

This is the first time he’s ever lost an opening game let alone get crushed.

But I’m sure Josh Allen and Von Miller were the best players on the field because of the extensive work they got in the preseason. *checks notes*. 6 snaps and 0 snaps, respectively

on the rams offense who was there a year ago at the start of the season? On buffalo you had 2 receiver and a RB who played a few plays

Now that Lamar looks like he’s on the outs in Baltimore, I hope he ends up in the NFC. Seattle would be an interesting fit.
The New Jersey Football Giants?

Id be interested to see what Daboll could do with him. Everybody should know that Daniel Jones isn't the answer by now.
