All I've been saying for like 3.5 years now is that he has a chance to be solid bottom six character player. Some of you act like I think he is the next Colten Teubert or Aki Berg. Disagreeing with folks who had him pegged as a Jonathan Toews or Mike Richards like player, and saying he was over-drafted does not mean I think he has no future in the NHL or is a total bust who won't play in the league.

I still think his upside is an Andrew Copp or Andrew Cogliano type, if he can stay healthy. I think I even said on this forum that his freshman year reminded me a lot of Cogliano's, of course Cogliano went back to school and got a lot better as a player, which helped his development.
Bro, it was tongue in cheek. I'm sorry that wasn't more clear.
I have enormous respect for you and have learned tons from you.
You have the balls to always state what you think, and it is always well-reasoned and researched.
Didn't mean to make you have to defend yourself.
I thought the bet thing was funny.

Well some just dont have any self mockery. Let’s not start sucking each others ***** just yet.

95% of everyone here says what he thinks, some just say a little more nonsense and that’s the problem.

Sorry, I didn't mean any harm towards you, I just feel like I get a lot of grief for being a "hater" about this player from many people here for supposedly saying that this player is a bust or sucks (not you, mostly the usual suspects) and just addressed the truth here, sorry if it came across as rude, I apologize, there was actually another fake news post by a clown that I should have quoted instead. I can take the shit talk when I am wrong on things (Bernier/Quick, Vilardi) but I think my evaluation on Turcotte has been pretty spot on as to the type of player he projects to be, if healthy.

Especially when the Kings already "ruined" the player. :eek3:

You are talking about a #5 overall pick who 4 full seasons since being drafted has yet to record a point (the only one in the top 27 picks from his draft) or establish himself as an NHL player, and here you are with what you think is a gotcha moment.

You are right, Turcotte has been developed perfectly and is still on track to be what everyone expected.

How was the scrap between 6'6 Helenius and 6'9 Curtis Douglas?

Has to be the 1st time fighting a bigger opponent for Helenius.

He fought against Adam Klapka (6'8).

I still think his UPside is Richards. I personally think his FLOOR is Cogliano or Lizotte.

Obviously presuming health.

What Richards are we talking about though? The Mike Richards in Philly? No way. The Mike Richards on the 2012 Kings? A second line center with a 50 point ceiling? Yeah, I could see that. Richards is one of my favorite players of all time, and I think that expectation has clouded a lot of Turcotte’s expectations. I could see him getting to that point, and I could also see him being Trevor Lewis 2.0, and I could also see him unfortunately never making the Kings due to injuries. All three are possibilities, though at this point I’m in the “better than Lewis but worse than Richards” camp.

Agreed, Prime Mike Richards was a point per game player, who finished runner up for the Selke and was a real a physical badger on the ice. By the time he arrived in LA he was already a declining player from his peak. Turcotte is less than Richards in all those areas, especially offensively and defensively. So the area he compares best to Richards is the area that contributed to destroying Richards career.

Cogliano broke into the NHL at 20, having never played in the AHL (take a deep breath Glen Murray!) and averaged 15 goals and 35 points over his first 11 seasons. He doesn’t quite have the compete level of Turcotte but was probably a bit better two-way guy. At this point if the Kings could get a player like Cogs they would be pretty happy. I guess one big difference is Cogliano only missed 2 games in his first 11 seasons in the NHL. He was one of the most durable players in league history.

Nice to see Bison and Al T back and it seemed to help popping that 10 game losing streak.
Can't be losing like that going into the playoffs.
Hopefully we can get in a roll.

Reign are up 3-1 with 14 to go.

Turcotte and Bjornfot with an assist each. Every time Turcotte goes into the boards for a retrieval/battle I give a little hail Mary.

To go on a two game winning streak would be a great confidence boost for the team. Funny how Turcotte comes back and things are getting cleaned up.

Sturm on Alex Turcotte’s two games since returning from injury
We talked about what the turning point was, and he’s one of the reasons. He just brings a lot to our team with his energy and just the way he plays. He’s having a rough year with the injuries, but again, every time he’s come back he’s battled really hard, and that’s what we need. That’s what we need from him and our team. We need guys like that. I think he’s been good every time he’s played all year. He’s been really good. He’s going to bring the other guys on his line along with him, and that’s how you build chemistry.

That's also how you build a leader of the team. When that person comes back and a winning streak starts? Ooooh baby!

Nice counter points on Al T and his qualities and potential.
Really you can't look at where he is at without noting his significant and unfortunate injury history., since we drafted him.
Pretty sure his concussions were not during practice, when Blake laced em up and took shifts against him repeatedly hammering him head first into the boards.

So Blake gets no blame for the injuries despite putting an undersized and physically not ready teenager into the AHL and expecting him to play a physical sandpaper style game?

What about the whole process with this player, from draft night to the present does Blake deserve credit for?

The coaches totally blew it by not seeing those factors coming together and resulting in those injuries.
He should have been structured to modify his game, keep his head up and not overdo it as he transitioned into being a pro.
He may have been warned , we do not know.
He may not have not listened to what he was told and acted in an overzealous manner.
Pretty sure Al T was chomping at the bit to fulfill his life long dream and turn pro.
So it may also be Alex's fault more than we know.
I put very little blame on Blake but I am biased.
Just like you are biased towards college hockey, because you love it and participate in it, vs. the AHL.
AHL is much closer to the NHL

Vilalta not getting much action but he is in today.
What do you do with the guy?
I guess you let Hrenak go and keep him as the 3rd minor league goalie after Cal and EP.
He may see that and go elsewhere if he gets offers.
I guess it all hinges around what Blake does with the Chess board in the off season.
I am a Korpi as the top priority resigning this summer.
He has meshed with the team, worked well with Copper rotating.
It would hurt and I would let Gavri go if you can't do it all.
Would prefer to see other moves instead however.
Its a jigsaw puzzle and only Blake gets to touch the pieces.

I actually wonder how Hrenak ended up in this bush league.

Decent numbers all over his career, even in the few games with Ontario.

That one bad playoff game must have done it.

Well you wanna try to have a third NHL caliber guy with the potential to outperform on your minor league team.

And what a spectacular pick up Copper was.

Unfortunately Cals contract was a mis step in hyndsight and he had to go back down and that blocked Hrenak and even blocked Vilalta's playing time and the ability to evaluate both.

With Cal's contract his reclamation is Ontario's top priority so he can come back up if Blake can't resign Korpi or get someone else of that caliber.

Otherwise the reclamation is for Cal to entice another team to take a flyer on him and free up some much needed cap space.

It is also handicapping for the playoffs because you will tend to want to ride with Cal even if he is not great.
Obviously you are starting the playoffs with Cal and if you switch to Vilalta it makes Cal continue to look suspect.

Alright, alright, alright! Reign defeat Abbotsford in overtime and a nice comeback in the third period.

3 points in 3 games for both Turcotte and Bjornfot! Three wins in a row and undefeated since Turcotte came back.

Nice OT win against the team they are chasing in the standings.
They won draws, maintained possession, by bringing it back in their zone and setting it up.
Then a great pass to the front by Al T.
Hockey rosters= Jenga
A couple, or even one missed piece can cause it all to tumble down.

Yes!
Yup you nailed it Al T. plays big roles on his team.
He may have had lingering issues from concussion and fudged it with training staff to come back early.
He looks tight now and I loved they way he jumped out of the way of a nasty hit earlier in the game.
Bjo is asserting himself offensively and the other guys are covering for him when he does.
Good on D as always.'
Big test playoffs coming up , lets get some more points and catch the Nuckitos.!
I think Bjo is a kings 6th 7th D next year if he keeps it up.

By chance, did you used to have a user name called andys? I think that was his name?

No but thanks for asking respectfully and I am not the totem poll guy. I used to read the stuff here a bit before I finally created my first and only account.
I am no shrieking violet, so I can't see myself having to leave.
And I dont need to because,
When I am out thought on something or wrong I acknowledge it.
