That assumes that every other AHL team is chockablock with prospects that are all clearly going to feature heavily in the future of their NHL teams which is simply NOT the case.

The rhetoric on this board about the depression and frustration of LA Kings prospects is wildly overblown.
Care to address the back east happy hour banter about Clarkes development being handled worse than Afghanistan and ruining the Kings shot at the rainbow, I mean Stanley cup?

Only to say that whatever people might think is the "best" spot for any particular player to be playing for their "development" or even for their on ice impact when it comes to fringe forwards at the 4th line level...

There are always player and roster evaluations happening more complicated than just "Player X is better than Player Y" and any sports fan that has any kind of experience watching professional or amateur sports knows that and doesn't need other sports fans to point out the century of examples of why it's over simplistic to reduce arguments about who should or shouldn't be in which lineups to a simple equation of "Joe > Dave".

Nice, even from the tightropes you walk.
Thanks you!
Quit intimidating the other reporters at the post game.
LOl JK!

Turcotte looks great.
In my view Arizona commentator should be in mental institution if he is not drunk or on drugs.

He really does. 10 games left I think in the season. Praying to the hockey gods he can get through productive and healthy for the rest of the year. Turcotte is incredibly talented and could replace Lizotte.

Well its purely just message board speculation.
Not long ago maybe on your show? Or one of the others Todd himself said prospects are getting antsy and think they are better than guys on the big club.
If you have more to offer than someone higher up than you in your job you would definitely know it.

I get that... but it's speculation that presupposes there's something unique about the Ontario Reign roster that is leading to unique results.

I think he said it during a media availability after a practice and I played the clip on the pregame show. Either way he was talking about conversations he had with the Reign coaching staff so right away there's three to four degrees of separation from whatever was said to whatever is being speculated.

I completely understand the thought process. I'm simply suggesting that there are 31 other teams in the AHL that presumably have players on their rosters that also believe they have more to offer than someone higher up in their organizations (and have every single year those teams have been in existence) so to suggest that somehow the slights (however real or imagined) that the Reign players may or may not be feeling are probably not an adequate explanation for a losing streak.

Heck yeah! If we go for Turcotte as Center he could replace Lizotte. As a winger he could replace surfer boy Iafallo. I would prefer the second but a line of Fiala - Turcotte - Vilardi sounds dreamy.

If we managed to find a taker for Iafallo+Durzi+Walker with no salary coming back we could have Clarke/Spence and Turcotte slot into the lineup and use that cap savings for Gavrikov and Vilardi. Keep in mind we have Phaneif coming off the books this off-season as well.

I may be one of only a few on here that likes Turcs a lot. I believe he has the talent to play on a regular bases. He just needs to say healthy. That's the biggest Issue with him. I think when he adds strength and can just stay away from the injury bug no doubt he is a better player talentwise than Iafallo.

i don't mind that Helenius fight result. that dude he fought is a monster -- you won't be seeing that in the NHL. He held is own regardless. It's less for me about the fight result and more just about having guys (& an overall team mindset) of being tough and not being a house mouse when a bad hit or something happens.

Raccoon and I have been huge Turcotte fanboys from the beginning.
I have an in my own mind only bet with Herby so that when Alex makes it big with the Kings I can say I told you so.

  • Haha

Helenius obviously got in a bad spot and a 6’9 giraffe tapped him on the back. Of course he will go down….so yes he lost but not Kelly Buchberger bad.

Absolutely fixable.

All I've been saying for like 3.5 years now is that he has a chance to be solid bottom six character player. Some of you act like I think he is the next Colten Teubert or Aki Berg. Disagreeing with folks who had him pegged as a Jonathan Toews or Mike Richards like player, and saying he was over-drafted does not mean I think he has no future in the NHL or is a total bust who won't play in the league.

I still think his upside is an Andrew Copp or Andrew Cogliano type, if he can stay healthy. I think I even said on this forum that his freshman year reminded me a lot of Cogliano's, of course Cogliano went back to school and got a lot better as a player, which helped his development.
