Maybe Spence's agent did say something and it affected his play.
Be better if agent did such things without saying anything.
Maybe just a prior agreement to do such things when the agent felt it was appropriate.
Regardless this type of maneuvering is about the agent trying to collect his commission when he gets his client paid.
And it hurts the team and at times the player.
In the other hand it would hurt to play well get promoted for a good part of the season then be sent down for the entire next season.
I saw an interview with Spence recently and he reflected a positive outlook.
I think any pouting combined with a loss of form would make him more likely to be traded.
However it may also lower his value making diminishing returns less worth trading for

Or more likely his agent did nothing and he’s understandably frustrated or simply his level has dropped slightly. Not even the elite guys play at 100% all of the time.

Spence is what he is. He’s an extremely high IQ player with some shortcomings that a good organization should be able to work around by finding him the right partner where he can thrive.

Find him a bigger, defensive oriented LHD to play with and you will have a player who can move the puck well from defense to offense, be a big asset in the offensive zone and be a solid player on a 2nd PP unit.
Gavrikov?

There is no injured list in the AHL. Whether Hoven lists Turcotte as "injured" or "scratched" doesn't make a difference. If Turcotte is not in the lineup its because he's still not healthy enough to play.
Never realized there wasn’t a IR in the AHL but it actually does make a difference if he’s just a scratch… hopefully it means he’s closer to returning.

It's probably just a lost cause at this point with Cal. Now 21 goals in his last 4.5 games at the AHL level. He's 29 later this year, it's over.

The buyout is $5.6 mill, we'd probably have to give up a third straight 1st rounder to a team like Phoenix or Chicago to take him in a trade.

His buyout is more manageable after next season, I guess he will be splitting time with Portillo next season in Ontario.

That’s what I’m expecting as well. a buyout

16 Saves on 22 shots for Cal. -4 For Chromiack.

Ontario is 0 for March. Not great. Hopefully we can see what the character of this team is and if the leaders can lead.

The Athletic just did a write-up on Cal: How is Cal Petersen doing in the AHL, and does he still have a future with the Kings?

Of course, everyone within the organization is going to say they still believe in him and he is going to say he is still pursuing his return. In the end, who knows how it plays out, but it is likely headed to keeping him buried or buyout. It would be a bold move to pay to get the contract off of the books. I would do it if it took anything but a first, but that would almost certainly be the price.

I doubt they move on anything until they have the goaltending situation figured out in the offseason for next year. If Korpi walks and they can't find an option, as painful as it is, I wouldn't be surprised if he was a last resort despite burned bridges and obvious intent.

The thing is, if he's bought out this year, the cap hit next year is more than if he were just buried in the minors. So, unless they're worried about the 50-contract limit, it may make more sense to keep him in the minors next year.

I was playing around on capfriendly with the idea of sending Petersen, with or without Walker, to Chicago for Mrazek. We then either bury or buyout Mrazek and save even more cap space. We’d obviously be paying something to Chicago, but this route would give us a shot at potentially keeping both Gavrikov and Korpisalo.

What are the likely adds for next season?

Clarke (if he doesn't start the big club right away)
Portillo
Laferriere
Pinelli
??
Expecting Clarke to be in the AHL unless massive moves are made.

Kaleb Lawrence and Ben Meehan could also join if they sign contracts. Lawrence would be an overager in the OHL and Meehan is finishing his junior season at UMass-Lowell.

I would think that there's room for both players. Meehan at LD and KL on a line with Lee and Helenius.

Yeah, I dont foresee a buyout yet. 5.6 mill vs 3.875 mill buried in the AHL. I’ll take the buried hit followed by a buyout year following.

Honestly, if we can find a trading partner who thinks they can turn him around & at least make an NHL backup out of him, I have no problem eating half his salary. 2.5M for 2 years I can live with. Just like we pulled Scrivens & Campbell off the scrap heap, someone else might see the upside in him.

I follow the Reign and have the AHL Package me being a complete geek- but would love to wonder why the need to trade Allard. He was a legit AHL defensemen and was giving some solid play for the Reign.

Looks like the Reign about to lose their sixth straight game. Only one win out of their last 8 including tonight. Going through a rough stretch down in the farm. Ouch.
