Olympic Hockey Thread Part II

can someone explain to me the elimination round format? i thought i read that this year, all 12 teams advance and the top 2 teams get byes. but that doesn't work cause after round 1 you'd be left with 7 teams...

so either there are more byes or some teams don't advance. but i couldn't find it...

Yeah as much as I love Olympic hockey I'm deathly afraid that someone on the Rangers is going to get injured. It looks like Kesler broke a finger blocking a shot. I'm sure Canuck fans are pretty pissed.
 
What's funny was Oshie was just alright for most of the game. Not bad, but not a real force.

But, that performance in the shootout. wow.
 
I recorded the game, and it ran out with 30 seconds left in OT. :(
 
Russia came to play, especially Kovalchuk.

Semin didn't, though, and Radulov is a complete bum.
 
Go Sweden. Would like nothing more than US, Canada, Russia, Sweden to be the final four.

Yeah, I get flashbacks of Jagr whenever anyone from the Rangers gets hit. I love the Olympics, think they are fun for everyone, but I get overly concerned about injury during this time.
 
Interesting that Hank didn't get a rest against Latvia.

Are his Swedish teammates trying to injure Hank? lol.

Sweden is going to have trouble scoring against the big three without Zetterberg, Sedin, & Franzen. The only way they win a medal is if Henrik stands on his head.

Perhaps, but the defense is still ridiculously good.

Although, I have no ****ing idea how Tallinder made the team.

As soon as a I post this, Latvia ties it up. crap
 
Ozolinch has experience scoring goals on Lundqvist from his time in NY.

Oshie is a good player but never quite seemed to live up to his talent. But again, very good player, just not elite
