its been seen before, players from the dub will go play in the BCHL for a year then commit and play D1 after being under "contract" in the chl the year prior to the BCHL. impossible w elc tho
That's not true. Once you've played in the CHL you cannot receive a scholarship to NCAA. There are rules against that.

Wow, not even kept overnight? I'm a little surprised considering he was stretchered off, but that has to be a good sign that he was back at the arena by the end of the game. Might be good to give him a game off (depending on when their next game is) just as a precaution, but hopefully he's back soon.

That seems like good news if he was able to re-join the team later that night. Hoping for the best!

Shut him down for the season regardless.

Good news though
They're one of the best in the WHL and he's possibly/probably their best player, doesn't seem like this is trending in that direction.

Glad to see he's OK. I kind of figured it wasn't particularly serious given it seemed like only Ducks fans were talking about it on Twitter and Everett didn't even address it until now. An overabundance of caution with head and neck injuries is the norm now, as it should be.

In both of those cases the NCAA screwed up somehow and just decided not to take it away. I'm surprised they don't just change the rule, from what I recall it's a pretty dumb rule.
Yeah it's based on a pretty weak premise that CHL players are technically professional athletes due to receiving a weekly per diem. I don't know what the amount is today but for a long time I know that weekly per diem was $50, truly not more than making sure the kids have a bit of spending money on the road.

I think its also/or that the CHL features guys who've signed professional contracts so they consider it a professional league. Either way it's dumb and they'd probably be very smart to end it, possibly for situations like these. Then again they might not want to change it out of fear it'll hurt recruiting efforts, which I get.

Apparently his nickname is Ziggy....

What a season for the kid, and what a freaking steal for the Ducks. If he was born 7 days later after the season he just had I'm curious where he would go in this years draft.
