I mean even financially long term, pretty sure drysdale is going to lose out on a ton of money.
I hope not and that he can hit his potential as he physically matures. Potentially another example where rushing a player does more harm than good to his career.

If Drysdale was in junior hockey (where he'd normally be absent covid), he'd be a top 10 prospect in the NHL and everyone would be raving about him. Ducks have done a MAJOR disservice to him (except financially) by playing him in the NHL on a bad team at 18/19.
I completely agree. I was on record for saying he should be in the AHL getting top line minutes, PP and PK minutes and having the puck on his stick as much as possible.

RHD fowler... some people on this board are going to be overjoyed by that
I know people will hate to hear this, but a Cam level player at 4th overall is not bad at all.

Compare that to most 4th overalls:

2013Seth JonesDPortland (WHL)Nashville Predators
2012Griffin ReinhartDEdmonton (WHL)New York Islanders
2011Adam LarssonDSkelleftea AIK (Swe)New Jersey Devils
2010Ryan JohansenCPortland (WHL)Columbus Blue Jackets
2009Evander KaneCVancouver (WHL)Atlanta Thrashers
2008Alex PietrangeloDNiagara (OHL)St. Louis Blues
2007Thomas HickeyDSeattle (WHL)Los Angeles Kings
2006Nicklas BackstromCBrynas (Swe)Washington Capitals
2005Benoit PouliotLWSudbury Wolves (OHL)Minnesota Wild
2004Andrew LaddLWCalgary Hitmen (WHL)Carolina Hurricanes
2003Nikolai ZherdevRWCSKA Moscow (Russia)Columbus Blue Jackets

In those 10 years there are only 2 guys that are clearly a better player then Cam in Backstrom and Pietrangelo. It would be between Cam and Seth for the 3rd best for me.

Edit:
Actually Jamie was a 6th overall. It is pretty much the same at 6th overall though. Only Hampus and Zibanejad would be above Cam at 6th overall in that time period.

Fowler was an awesome pick. I think some of us are just a little disappointed because he could have been even better... that being said he is still a really good defensemen.

Murray rushed Fowler too. If Fowler hadn't have been rushed he might have made more money in his career and have hit 50+ points a few times.
That said watching rookie Fowler on the ice with Selanne was a treat to watch, they flew all over the ice like they had rocket engines on their skates on breakaways.

That is what worries me about Drysdale. I wasn't a fan of him making the NHL right away.
Like Cam he should have been allowed to destroy the Junior/NCAA/Euro level before going to the NHL right away. Luke Hughes is looking like a pretty good pick right now.

Detroit with Seider and Edvinsson - they didn't rush Seider for 2 years and Edvinsson following similar path.
NJ isn't rushing Luke Hughes nor is LA with Clarke.

This is a pretty dubious argument at best and sadly it's a fairly common one. It's all kind of hindsight but the big point projections for Cam never made that much sense.

Cam would be an argument for Drysdale being in the NHL right now, not against IMO.

Is NCAA an option for him? I actually think that would be best if so.

He's a sturdy mofo, really strong on his skates. Watching his game today.

19 points in last 9 games. 78 in 54.

I'd gladly take him on my hometown team Düsseldorfer EG for next season to have him get his first taste of professional men's hockey. *shrugs*

Any chance he plays next year?
It's certainly not impossible. They don't need him here, have similar guys penciled in already and there's plenty of bodies in the mix but his abilities this year indicate he can probably compete for a job but that might not be enough. I think he'd have to decisively win a spot so I guess we'll see what happens in training camp. Unlikely but stranger things have happened.

Not if Verbeek sticks to his word.... But I don't trust him yet so well see.
People have gotta stop bastardizing that Verbeek quote to mean no young guys are gonna make the team while he's here. Zellweger is unlikely to make it next year for a variety of reasons but it's not automatic and he'll have every opportunity to crack the squad.

even if there was a pass between CHL and NCAA, he signed his ELC which means he CAN NOT go NCAA.
its been seen before, players from the dub will go play in the BCHL for a year then commit and play D1 after being under "contract" in the chl the year prior to the BCHL. impossible w elc tho

That did not look good, the need for a stretcher really worries me.

Other than that, there was another Duck standing 5`10 that was obliterated on the ice – that game he returned and became a hero. :) But yeah, a stretcher was not involved that time.

I Hope Zell gets back soon. If not for the season, then for the WJC – but no info has been out now, so better to just wait.

Get well, Zell
(Gosh, it even rhymes)
