Seeing Calgary in such disarray is cathartic.

I hate to be that guy but every time I see someone say this it makes me cringe. How hard is it to just say "it's insane to do the same thing over and over while expecting different results."

in·san·i·ty. : unsoundness of mind or lack of the ability to understand that prevents one from having the mental capacity required by law to enter into a particular relationship, status, or transaction or that releases one from criminal or civil responsibility:

Also their are a lot of examples of doing the same thing over and over again (like exercising every day) that will get you the result you want.

Just a really dumb thing people seem to say in sports all the time like "you fight like a girl" when in fact lots of girls are absolutely vicious.

Always wondered what was the point of Johnny Depp having that stupid bird on top of his head.

I also introduce another famous Texas Ranger, Nolan Ryan.

Classic. "Don't like my pitches, boy? How do you like my punches, bitch?"

So looking at the Edmonton and Calgary schedules this week, I noticed that Detroit, and now the Rangers played Calgary the night after playing in Edmonton. I knew that that had happened earlier this year, but I was curious how many back to back’s like that had taken place. So I looked at the schedule and there are nine times this year when a team plays in Calgary after having played in Edmonton the night before. Conversely, only 2 times that a team places in Edmonton after having played in Calgary the night before. Interesting

this has been the opposite in past years. it is surprising that they dont pay much attention to balancing it out within a given year, but they prioritize other scheduling issues.

truth is edmonton, outside of a seemingly high frequency of 4 games in 6 nights type situations, hasnt had that bad of a schedule this year. Its usually one of the worst in the NHL. Probably still is, but maybe not rock bottom this year.

The soft batch of teams this month leading into TDL has certainly made it an easier path to the playoffs. We'll see how it goes closing out the season.

Good to know. Thanks!

Live thread is horrible. Please stop turning it on.
GDT will normally be live because of volume of activity and users prefer. If you don’t you can opt out. Individual users can’t make the thread live for some and not others. Let’s accommodate all as best we can.

Rangers are playing good hockey right now (like Detroit was arriving in Edmonton). The Oilers will need a better PK result than the past few games, which makes the cap-induced demotion of Desharnais difficult to swallow.

One thing Edmonton may have going for them is that after a spicy NYR-Calgary battle last week the Rangers may be looking past the Oilers slightly towards their rematch against the Flames tomorrow.

I dont know what that is. I know that people commonly attribute the phrase to Abert Einstein when he never actually said it.

I SAID

Yeah, just saying that it's a phrase that people use to sound intelligent but it's become overused, even largely incorrectly.

@AddyTheWrath I really enjoyed that. Great job!

Excited to play a team that is playing really well and is up there in the standings. Maybe the Oilers will come out with a great 60 minute effort tonight. Plus it's Friday of a long weekend and I'm ready to kick it off with some great hockey.

Let's get the W and start our new point streak tonight.
