Allot of dead money with Niel, Campbell and Brown.

Imagin what that 10 mil would look after.
Assuming we buy out Campbell, it goes down to about $6.25M in dead cap next season. Which is still pretty bad. That's enough for a starting goalie or a top 4 RD

It's actually worse than that.

6.25 million in open cap space means that if you actually had just kept that open, you could bring in like 2-3 big salary (5-6 million) players at the trade deadline.

It's more like $18+ million in cap at a deadline, imagine what you could do with that much cap space.

That would require not having the biggest dummy in the NHL as your GM.

I was livid when I saw that bonus structure was 10 games and nothing else.

At this point even if the structure was 1 goal and 5 points, we'd still have the ability to get out of it. Can't imagine any agent would have balked at that low a bar when he was signing to play with McDavid.

Even if they were cumulative like, 812,500 for 10 games, 812,500 for 1 goal, 812,500 for 5 assists, and another 812,500 for 10 points.

This is who he's keeping company with throughout the entire franchise's history. People need to stop making excuses for him.

He didn't score a goal in the 20 games before his ACL injury either. Maybe... just maybe, he f***ing sucks and is one of the worst players in the NHL.

Pay him an extra 10 million to never play a game again. For the love of God.

Forward rankings:

#456 - Brown is the only player in the league with a single point (some have zero pts, but only 1GP)

#455 - Ryan Reeves with 2pts

Pretty sad, and it's not like he took a discount to be here.

Should've sent him down before his 10th game, should've traded Foegele to keep either Bjugstad or Kostin, should've upgraded on Ceci, I called it at the time, Holland had no intention on getting us to the promised land with such a half assed effort in the offseason.

Well the upside is Brown is only 1 goal behind Tristan Jarry. Think there's a possibility to catch him!

It defies belief Connor Brown could have this level of ineffective production with Draisaitl and McDavid predominantly your centre man for most of the season thus far. Not sure anyone could have projected this worst of worst case scenario for 'Hyman lite'.

Not to mention in doing sfa in addressing our #1 concern, the putrid goalie tandem, etc etc., this f**ing GM is clueless, put him out to pasture, at least half of us on this board would of done a better job.

I agree. And I'll add Mcleod. He should have been traded two deadlines ago.

Holland also put us into cap hell, but so is Vancouver, and they are making trades. The non action by our front office just shows how dysfunctional it is. Holland is dead man walking, and the new guy is learning as he goes, and is afraid to make mistakes imo

A goalie trade should have happened by now, it's not hard to overpay a bit, and it's an obvious need, but we continue to show paralysis after not cutting Brown. The Oilers can't seem to even execute the obvious decisions that are in our control right now.

Has there ever been another contract before with such a big bonus paid out for such a ridiculous thing as playing 10 games? Like wtf man... just show up to work and we will pay you your big bonus... doesn't matter how you perform.

The 10 games is kind of irrelevant. This contract was basically just Holland wanting to give him $4M, but only being able to afford giving him $775k this year.

It's kind of Holland's MO where he seems to make even worse decisions to try to fix his bad decisions.

What an absolute campbell of a contract!

Is Brown Holland's relative or something?

And only one point behind Ryan Reaves.

They are not being friendly to Brown on 1440.
Typically if we told one of their hosts Brown only has 7 shots from the slot they would retort with the “but he has 19 posts that an inch to the net are goals” but they did not mention his post hit count that I do not believe count as shots (please correct me if wrong)

I have nothing else to say on this contract that isn’t beating a dead horse. Just thought it was weird that even our media are turning on him
