Because it’s not a 775k cap….However you want to spin it the guy is making 4 million….wether that partially counts next year or all this year we paid 4 million for a player that will be lucky to get 15 points…Never seen so many people upset over a 775K cap hit
If our nightmare continues, there will be no cap hit next year, it will be eaten this year.
Exactly, and they had an out.Because it’s not a 775k cap….However you want to spin it the guy is making 4 million….wether that partially counts next year or all this year we paid 4 million for a player that will be lucky to get 15 points…
Oh but it is a 775k cap hit this year.Because it’s not a 775k cap….However you want to spin it the guy is making 4 million….wether that partially counts next year or all this year we paid 4 million for a player that will be lucky to get 15 points…
Yes, but then next year it’s 3.25 million for nothing. The Oilers would have to move out a player making over 4 million with nothing in return to complete eat that cap this year. I could see a few hundred thousand ate this year with a dead line move if things don’t improve, also if the Oilers are still in LTIR and over the cap even if the LTIR room isn’t spent completely Browns full bonus will carry over.Oh but it is a 775k cap hit this year.
McLeod has 3x the cap hit and has done nothing, I don’t see a single thread on him.
It’s not necessarily next year, no. At this rate there will be no cap hit on next years booksYes, but then next year it’s 3.25 million for nothing. McLeod, yes is having a bad year. But he’s young and prior to this season was a decent bottom six forward.

It’s really not that hard to figure out. There was a rare out clause to walk away from a bad contract and the team didn’t take it.Oh but it is a 775k cap hit this year.

Like you say, no way was "Gentleman Ken" going to do it. He's built a career and a huge fortune on a playbook that says "don't ruffle any feathers" and it wasn't going to change in this situation. He's very much a corporate climber type personality and always has been. He knows which strings to pull and which strings not to pull. It’s really not that hard to figure out. There was a rare out clause to walk away from a bad contract and the team didn’t take it.
You do realize that’s what I said, but actually mentioned that they need to trade out money and not be on LTIR and over the cap? It’s not necessarily next year, no. At this rate there will be no cap hit on next years books
I believe the buy out of Campbell would be next years cap not this years, so no. The window is after this years regular season is complete you can’t buyout what was already paid.Anyone that understands the cap better than I can maybe answer this question.
The buyout period is mid-June, the NHL season ends June 30th (I think?), it seems a given that Campbell will be bought out, can the Oilers use that space to offset Browns bonus on this years cap?
Makes sense, so basically theyre pre-buying out Campbell for the 24/25 season. I was hoping there was a loophole they could exploit.I believe the buy out of Campbell would be next years cap not this years, so no. Brown finally on the 4th line… wondering how long it takes until they realize he belongs to the farm…
Never seen a player that needs that many games to recover from an acl… just rediculous that we pay 4mn for this kind production.
Ekholm?Ken Holland got lifted to a Conference Finals by Connor and Leon playing out of their minds and then felt that adding Brown and Campbell were the key pieces that would put the team over the top.
