nah, their defense is light years better than the Oilers and they actually have depth this year and good players on their roster
Easy to have more "depth" when all your forwards are average and you have no elite skill.

They more than make up for it in later rounds.

They drafted the best goalie on the planet the same year we drafted Yakupov.
So you think the Oilers shoulda drafted vasi who was nowhere close to being in the running for first overrall?

They also drafted Kucherov the year we drafted RNH.

It's just a shitty built roster.

Who's the "vet leader" on Colorado? Toronto? They don't really have one either. They just have far better built rosters because they can draft and/or win a trade.
Yup and Holland can't even use cap excuse since he had 25M to spend at one point.

Nah, they're junk, Vegas ordered from Wish.

This team is just a bunch of soft mental midgets with no leadership, a soft coach, manager that's asleep at the wheel and an MIA owner. The fans are the only ones who care because we're f***ing suckers.

Dude just can't play any D. Is what it is ... he'll be a higher scoring Justin Schultz in a while if he doesn't go full Oiler, but I don't see it with him beyond that. He's a massive defensive liability.
Shhh we need to keep him. He will develop once McDrai are old or bolt.

We need to just call it what it is -- the picks post McDavid f***ing suck.

lol. Enough with putting lipstick on this fat ass pig, they suck.

Imagine that was the Oilers rebuild, like it started in 2016 and those were the players they got out of the draft. The NHL would have to give us Bedard just as a mercy pick.

Puljujarvi-Benson-Yamamoto-Bouchard-Broberg-Holloway-Bourgault make Gagner + Eberle + Paajarvi-Hall-RNH-Yakupov look like the 80s Oilers.
Putting Holloway and Bourgault in that list is premature. Let's give these guys the same chance the rest were afforded before making a fair judgement.

Erik Johnsson, Helm. On Toronto Giordano.

lol, I don't think anyone on the Avs gives a shit about Erik Johnsson, he's done nothing in this league but be one of the bigger no.1 overall busts until Yakupov ran away with the title.

The Leafs have had better regular season records than the Oilers before Giordano and after Giordano, so I don't think that is the difference maker. Ironically the one year the Leafs defense was as bad as the Oilers is now was the one year they had Barrie + Ceci on their blue line. What a coincidence.

Sitting around and wanting 40-year-old Duncan Keith to hold your hand or you can't play well is a loser mentality. This isn't pre-school, this is the NHL.

Giordano has never played a game in the second round, and the way Avs fans speak of Johnson...
And? Those are the veteran leaders. Just answering the question. Most teams have them. In fact the cup is generally won by vet teams in the modern NHL. Colorado was the first team to win with a core built strictly of this generations stars. Mostly every cup winning team since the hawks/kings era was made up of vets.

Well I think is Landeskog for Colorado.

I don’t think Toronto is a good example. What have they won? Lol

I honestly think the Avalanche, Bruins, Penguins, Lightning, Capitals etc just have a built into the understanding that the majority of players buy into that they have to play the right way, blah blah, culture no one cares for. Etc.

As much as Holland could no wrong last year, too many eff ups this year:

1) signing Pulju was a waste of $3M

2) Signing Yamo to 2yrs at over $3m/yr equally dumb. He belongs in the Shire with the other hobbits. He is useless. Too small.

3) Just too slow to react. Patients is NOT a virtue.

Think about this....last year we had around 30 losses. We do not have a lot of runway left. They cannot go 3months with 13 losses. Call it game over after this week, because I don't see us winning those, nor do I see the Cali trip going well. Too many passengers on this team.

Lastly, had Brad Treliving been our GM, we would have probably have been in the Cup final at least once. Yes, kind of a fantasy statement, but Holland is being out GM'd by just about every damn GM.

The road team is what we should be warts and all. At home they play at 60% at best. Way too cute way too casual.

Playing loose, incompetent, lazy hockey primarily at home is yet another ongoing Oiler phenomenon for about 5 years now. Right there with the shit starts, team defense ineptitude, and having their game implode every December. No matter the coach, no matter the players, no matter who gets near this stupid team. We just do all these things. This is Oiler hockey.

It’s just another thing only the Oilers do that seems impossible to change. We generally play fairly structured, competent, normal hockey that gives us the chance to win more often than not on the road. Then at home we play bullshit shinny hockey and that is being generous. It defies all logic.

Imagine that, a bunch of first overall picks, a 6th overall pick and a 10th overall pick look much better than mid to late round picks.

You brainstorm that one up yourself?

I cannot believe pulju was 3rd overall. I hate you Ohio.
He wasn't.

Eh not really. When the Blackhawks were actually winning they didn't have that many greybeard players, neither did Tampa really unless like Patrick Maroon was some massive veteran add.
