Post-Game Talk: Oilers play like an expansion team and lose.

As much as Holland could no wrong last year, too many eff ups this year:

1) signing Pulju was a waste of $3M

2) Signing Yamo to 2yrs at over $3m/yr equally dumb. He belongs in the Shire with the other hobbits. He is useless. Too small.

3) Just too slow to react. Patients is NOT a virtue.

Think about this....last year we had around 30 losses. We do not have a lot of runway left. They cannot go 3months with 13 losses. Call it game over after this week, because I don't see us winning those, nor do I see the Cali trip going well. Too many passengers on this team.

Lastly, had Brad Treliving been our GM, we would have probably have been in the Cup final at least once. Yes, kind of a fantasy statement, but Holland is being out GM'd by just about every damn GM.
No mention of Campbell?

I bet you guys showed more desire and heart defending your spot in line to get a beer than Bouchard did trying to defend infront of the net.

The last game I was at before tonight (Anaheim), I yelled "you suck Bouchard" after he gave up on the GWG (I think it was that one? I can't remember with all of his bad defensive misplays). I'm surprised I didn't get 'talked to' by a concierge

To be fair, most of the really pissed off and passionate fans likely left 5 minutes before the end of the game. My voice was already gone and had 0 f***s left to give.

The team is a Jekyll and Hyde embarrassment worthy of all the derision it gets. Including the primadona stars that everyone fawns over. I'll say it again, I'd trade every single one of these soft losers for the 2006 team.

Were you the guy behind me yelling “McDavid you bum!”

We left after the 5th Krakhead goal. My buddy had to pick his kids up from the airport and didn’t want to get caught in the hour long lineup to leave the underground parkade at Ice District with nothing but radio static on.

Huh? Stamkos, Hedman etc had been there for well over 10 years. Tampa wasn’t a young team at all. They had a few young prominent young players but over half their core was 10+ year veterans. No teams built around this generations stars have won until the Avs last year. Florida, Edmonton, Toronto, Winnipeg none have won anything. The pens, blues and caps were not young teams.

If Stamkos, Hedman qualify as "leaders", then so do Nugent Hopkins and Nurse, they've been here for 8-10 years now.

This team hasn't displayed a stretch of consistency where they look like a playoff team at any point during this season. The season is half over.

This team is not a good team. Terrible GM, terrible coach and terrible players outside of 6 or 7 guys.

And Bouchard is terrible. At this point we'll be lucky if he tops out as a PP specialist.

So? They have one forward that isn't just a support player in Beniers. It's pretty easy to be all depth when you don't have 3 players taking up 40% of the cap, lol

The team is like a 2nd tier Vegas with no actual skill. No one here should be fooled by a team beating the Oilers.
Kraken went 12-1-1 in December, no team flukes off a run like that

Oilers can only dream of having that type of run

With all due respect, I don't think people are fooled after one game. There has been a very long pattern of bad play. bad team defensive play. Soft play. Just overall bad play by a lot of guys.

Sorry, I meant that people shouldn't think that the Kraken are good because of tonight. The Oilers are not good. This is Toilet Seat Szn 2.0, and the sequel is a lot worse.

a lot...he was fantastic as a 2nd paring LD
How, exactly? I seem to remember him sprawled on the ice when the playoffs ended along with our other awesome veteran leader.

Does it matter who we bring in to you then?

You already have a built in excuse of, how much did they actually have to do with last years success.
I want good players, not chasing trends. The Oilers should be dedicated to bringing in players who are good and fill holes, not focusing on intangibles or whatever crap.

God he is such a frustrating player. He is a zombie out there. Not engaged at all.

Then we have our actual zombie upstairs just being ok with it all.

Was tied up at work all evening prepping a case, glad I missed this one.

Not going to bother watching the PVR.

Did everyone just play horrible or what?

There just isn't any depth. Sad really.

No lol, but I was booing and yelled "you guys suck!" a few times. I don't remember singling anyone out tonight

We left about 4 minutes left, buddy has to work early in the morning. Power pack is 0-4 so far. One more chance for a win! I also have another game from work that I'm thinking of re-selling. I bought this pack because it was all Pacific teams and figured they might win some. Power packs in the past they've usually gone .500 at worst. Silly me

They had the same record at this time last year with Keith as without.

They didn't go far because of Keith being older than dirt, they went far because Evander Kane's ex is a nut job that gifted this dumb front office a second lease on life by giving them a free 50 goal scorer (basically) for the rest of the season.

That and McDavid/Draisaitl took their game to a 80s Gretzky level, which this organization deserves no credit for.
Keith was injured for most of last December and coincidentally the team played its worst hockey of the year.
Again, how much did Duncan Keith have to do with last year's success?
The stars were able to do what they did because guys like Russell and Keith could actually play in front of their own nets. Take sticks, stay between the opponent and your net and break up plays so the game didn’t get out of hand when the rest of the team didn’t show up for the first period every night.

he was great paired with Bouchard, who now looks lost without Keith on the left side

also had the 2nd best +/- on the team for d-men
Because he was put on the ice with McDavid a lot. Who would've guessed...

Duncan Keith was nothing special during his time here. And even then, a smart GM would've upgraded the defense during the offseason... and he didn't.

Nah the team was playing great. Complete control. Up 2-0. Then just stopped playing. Kraken scored 2 goals and the team lost all composure and called it a night.

You seem to remember whatever helps fit your bias.

Nurse and Ceci were exponentially worse than Keith.

McDavid was also worse at 5on5.

Kulak - Barrie was our best pairing that series, followed by Keith - Bouchard, and a distant third was Nurse - Ceci.
