Too high of a cap hit, too much term and the. Most of all there’s the McDavid factor that can cloud anyone’s analysis of him.

He’s an Oiler until his retirement
What factor is that? His most common line-mate is Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

Not that I necessarily disagree with you. I can't see the Oilers moving Looch anytime soon.

It is time that the Oilers move away from Lucic. He is not the old Lucic they wanted ..... he has slowed down. He still has upside but just Not a good fit with the Oilers.

Would rather use that $6 million salary else where.

So that being said ..... What team would take him?? And what could the Oilers get in return??
If the Oilers retain 50 % of his contract they could get up to a 7th rd pick.

His passing leaves a bit to be desired, beyond that I don't know what more you could expect from the guy? He's been 1 of 4 offensive threats on our team this year prior to Puljujarvi's recall and Khaira's hot streak.

He's 7th in the league in ES scoring amongst LW. One behind Taylor Hall and 17th overall amongst LW is all situations. With Puljujarvi on the top line Lucic fits the role better. Puljujarvi has the speed to McDavid so Lucic does not have to worry about being in too many track meets to support McDavid. He can just play his normal game. Puljujarvi and Lucic both playing physical and both capable of crashing the net opens things up for Connor.

Are people just trying to one up each other in the amount of stupid things they can say about Lucic, it is an entirely fair comment that Lucic at $6M with 6 years remaining on his deal has negative value, but at $3M he is absolutely a bargain, that should be absolutely obvious to anyone, I would easily drop a mid-late 1st rd pick for that kind of bargain deal. Also the number of people who try to allege that he is leaching points off of McDavid is pretty crazy given how little time they've played together, plus it directly contradicts the narrative of Patrick Maroon being the LW powerforward who is leaching off McDavid and who has negligible value because of it. HF has increasingly become a place where group think prevails over actual critical thought and of people who seldomly venture out of watching any team other than their own, yet speak as if they are an expert on things they really know nothing about.

I fail to see how he isn't living up to expectations. They never were relying on him to carry his team offensively, and his points pace seem right about average for the last 7 or so years of his career. He's been a 50-60 point winger who brings a physical element, and brings a unique skillset to the table. I wouldn't call him a legendary playoff performer, but his 2013 playoffs was pretty good, as were a few others. His contract for now, at 29, is just fine. At 33 with a few more miles on his body perhaps he'd be a problem, but basically all big name free agents carry that risk.

It’s pretty funny to see people double down on their horrible Lucic predictions. Based on no evidence whatsoever. Keep beating that drum while he more than earns his salary again this year.

Maybe in a few years he will suck right? That’s called a guess not an educated opinion. Based on the players history of not missing games it does not seem likely at all.

Can we not just enjoy the player and give him props for being good now, instead of talking about him as the player you’ve fantasized him becoming. Right now Lucic is a pretty good first line winger.

LOL Lucic is having a helluva season and people are still gonna say he's got no value.
Yeah.... no thanks. We'll keep him.
He won't look so slow after we let Maroon walk and replace him with a faster LW option.

hf is broken.

people are all aboard the huge assumption that he will be done at 34 and acting like thats the reality......ignoring that he is currently a top powerforward in the league and would be a core player on any team in the nhl right now.

People also ignore where the cap could be in 4 years.

Instead of deriding the original poster let us learn from him instead.

"It is time that the Oilers move away from Lucic. He is not the old Lucic they wanted ..... he has slowed down."

This is a beautifully crafted post. He speaks for the Oiler organization as if he has intimate insider knowledge. As if he somehow knew what they wanted. As if Lucic wasn't all there anymore. Classic "talk for all" post.

" He still has upside but just Not a good fit with the Oilers."

I know I will get roasted stats and everything else wise but the main board need to be fed.

"Would rather use that $6 million salary else where."

Once again one can only presume that this is Katz himself. Perhaps he wants to buy a Californian mansion......

"So that being said ..... What team would take him?? And what could the Oilers get in return??"

Once again, it is not what teams would trade for him, it is what team would take the lowly Lucic.

So I think we should show some respect. A seldom used account develops a post that not only allows certain posters to play but also annoys those Oiler fans that actually watch the games and know whats going on. Thread is approaching 300 posts. Well done!

It's been mentioned but Lucic for Eriksson is likely a fair trade. Eriksson's offensive numbers have been pretty terrible but he is our best defensive forward.

Lucic is from Van so it could persuade him to waive. Van would desire his toughness. With Kassian and Maroon the Oilers have toughness in spades

Lucic and Eriksson haven't been as bad as some posters say. It's their contracts that are unappealing. I think they would help with each other teams needs

Loui solves no Oilers needs. Now Stecher does. Formulate a trade based around him and I’d be more interested.

Easy pass for me. Lucic is as durable as they come and Eriksson has been dealing with quite a few injuries the past few years. Lucic has also been the better player since they signed their contracts, so I see no reason to make that swap.
