Just saw the highlights of this one... Yikes.

(Yawn) People on here blaming Stu Skinner again. Skinner is an NHL-average goalie and has been great in 4 of the past 5 games. PIckard was bad last game and in one other game, but has been better than one might reasonably expect. Goaltending is the least of the Oilers' problems.

First priority is -- got to score some goals. They can't score on home ice. They got two in this one: One was a lucky deflection by a guy who literally never deflects a puck (Kulak) and the other was a lucky-bounce gimme.

I don’t pin this one solely on shoulders of Skinner. This team has LOTS of issues. But he aint average this year. Hes near the bottom of the league including backups.

I didn't like Caggiula being called up, but at least I saw him trying to provide energy by hitting people here and there. We have a team that's allergic to hitting.
For sure. He’s not an nhler but he was trying hard and doing the right things.

We are butter soft.

Charmin extra soft toilet paper has more grit than we do

Utter dog shit, holy f***.
That'll happen when your goalies have a .693 SV% on the PK.

Ours are pretty much always down on GSAA.

We were the best team in the league from like Nov. 12 onwards last year and Skinner still didn't crack the top 30 for GSAA. This year he's a hillariously bad 65th place.

Pickard is sitting at 43rd overall.

Our goalies aren't up and down, they just are what they are ... back up goalies.
They have a worse offense than the Sharks.

did you watch last year? the Oilers only decide to start playing when things get really bad...it's part of their MO

Pretty much baked in to this team. They don't want to push back until their back is pushed to the wall or at least close to it.

Probably in part a byproduct of the last two coaches (especially) not having a big personality to light a fire under guys, and then no margin for error with goaltenders that don't win games.

Yet another whiny bunch of posts about Skinner when you have multiple skaters giving up on defensive zone coverage. Only Hanifin’s point shot goal against did we defend adequately, and how many times have we played Vegas, they won a playoff series against us the exact same way, waiting until we give up on defending and get guys in on net clear where they can walk up and score.

So what rhe hell is Bouchard doing here in the same side of the ice as the play on the wall and why did Podkolzin do what he did here?? You have 4own zone skaters and not one of them covered the second Vegas skater trailing the play. But yeah, all Skinner.

Their team defense improved a lot after Nov 12th, but you get what you pay for, Skinner/Pickard are two back ups, teams tend to not be in sync to start the year, for us that seems doubly so, having goalies with a poor GSAA in that case is a recipe for disaster because you need them to give you a little bit more room for error.
