The defensive gaffes were shit but Skinner was once again the 2nd best goalie in the game. And that's been a regular basis this season.
Skinner may have been the second best goalie but he plays well enough to win most nights. You’re expecting Patrick Roy to steal games when we constantly hang him out to dry, he ain’t that. We score more than 2 goals and give him some support and he’s fine.

there's some holes yes, but if Arvidsson doesn't get stoned by Hill it's 3-1 and the Oilers probably win

Well yeah of course, but that's been the Oilers problem so far this season. Our goalies play like junk, the team can barely score or finish, and the other team goalies play better or their team scores more.
The what ifs don't matter to me right now when the team's bleeding points early.

Holloway: 13 GP 4G 2A 6P
Broberg 12 gp 2G 7A 9P

Meanwhile the current bottom 6 players from the likes of Henrique, Brown, Janmark, Ryan, and Perry all have less than 3 goals and no more than 4 points apiece. Its utter dog shit how our bottom 6 is playing.

Let's be real here though, no way those guys get the same opportunities / minutes here. They'd be buried with the rest of the non-Country Club members.

Yet another whiny bunch of posts about Skinner when you have multiple skaters giving up on defensive zone coverage. Only Hanifin’s point shot goal against did we defend adequately, and how many times have we played Vegas, they won a playoff series against us the exact same way, waiting until we give up on defending and get guys in on net clear where they can walk up and score.

So what rhe hell is Bouchard doing here in the same side of the ice as the play on the wall and why did Podkolzin do what he did here?? You have 4own zone skaters and not one of them covered the second Vegas skater trailing the play. But yeah, all Skinner.

Bouch gambled that he could get the puck on the crazy bounce, but it laid up perfectly for Barbashev instead. Not a good gamble for sure. Crazy bad luck for Ekholm as well, puck just decides to totally dodge him and land perfectly for Barbashev to make a pass. If Bouch was in Ekholm's spot, missing the ring around, turning the wrong way and letting Barbashev get clean away, you can be sure people would be going equally insane on him. Forwards as clueless obviously. Skinner read it all badly too.

This team just playing like trash.

Depth scoring a problem on the Oilers? No way!

Bottom six isn’t the issue here. It’s all top six and they need to look in the mirror, they’re not getting in good positions nor taking advantage of scoring opportunities on offense and bailing on defensive responsibilities. A rookie 4th line center and some garbage goals by the checking line isn’t going to fix anything.

You have to be somewhat good in the first place to get Salo’ed out.

Hill won a Stanley Cup and probably should have won the Conn Smythe (we were dummying Broissoit in that series and were probably on our way to win it until Hill came in) ... Salo never did anything meaningful in the NHL. Overrated.

Honestly if they were all on the Oilers, their stats would likely be terrible too. Something in the water or something. No one seems to be able to figure out what the problem with this team is. Can’t play to the level they are capable of until their backs are against the wall.

He's barely been playing well enough this season, what are you talking about? Lol. Pickard's been outplaying him and he's not a good goalie either. I don't expect Skinner to be a prime Roy or Hasek, but he's playing way below the standard of a NHL #1 goalie.

I’m so sick of how the Oilers collapse and their lack of effort in the defensive zone. This is no Cup Champion calibre team.

Guys, in my opinion, Nurse, overall, has been better than Bouchard. He has one less point that him, plays with #7 D usually while Bouchard has top pp time and plays with a top D. Am I wrong?

Yep, I have no doubt about it. If they had matched on Broberg, I 100% expect he'd be playing terrible here under the weight and expectations of the contract with the media on his ass about it and the other guys would have something like 2-3 goals combined between them, same shit.

Players just play looser in other markets where hockey isn't the no.1/2/3/4 story and there isn't the McPressure to win now because there's a generational talent on the team.

In St. Louis or LA no one really gives that much of a shit about hockey, what Ohtani had for lunch and LeBron's Instagram feed is a bigger story than the LA Kings.

Who cares. Nurse sucks. You are right about us not being cup calibre team though.

Think they can get away with playing pond hockey as long as the shot count is even or ahead. It’s ridiculous and team leadership and lax coaching is to blame.

You need 4 to win on a lot of nights in the nhl. Most even. When was the last time we got 4?
You only need 4 on a lot of nights if you have the worst goaltending in the league. We have scored 4 goals in 5 of 14 games

We needed the following goals score to win the game in all 14
7
6
5
4
3
5
4
1
4
7
2
3
4
4

We would need 4.21 goals per game, we add another goal every game to our current what do we win? One more game?

Goaltending fine folks

My lines next game

Kulak McDavid Skinner
Nurse Draisaitl Hyman
Janmark Henrique Arvidsson
Podkolzin Ryan Perry

Nuge Bouchard
Ekholm C Brown
Dermott J Brown

In all seriousness, they need to shake up the lines yesterday, and more than shuffling around wingers

At this point of the last two (three?) seasons they haven't been, playing like it's pre-season until mid-November seems basically baked into the team identity. You would need like a Tortorella type coach to shake that I think.
