Give them 17-20 each. The 1st line was pretty poor today but I give a slight discount because they were up against McDavid, and they have no business being up against McDavid.
Oh I agree, the suggestion of this strategy is not in response to tonights game. I was just thinking this would be a balanced approach for allocating minutes going forward. It’s not a novel idea, in fact, I think this is how most coaches typically manage the TOI for the top 2 lines that are marginally close in terms of production.

I just think it would be a good idea for Po to set the ground rules on day one of PLDs debut.

Coach Maurice availability:

Topics:

1. What did he see when he switched the Lowry line to cover the McDavid line.
2. What has impressed him most about the start for Andrew Copp.
3. What is he seeing from his second line that makes it so cohesive and work well together?
4. On managing leads.
5. What was it like to see his team fire three goals in the 3rd period.

If you’re Paul, do you sit both Mark and Pierre down in a closed locker-room and tell them.

“Boys, I’m going to play the hot hand. Whichever one of you gets more points in the game, gets to play first line minutes for the next game.”

This way (1) there’s no complaints about favouritism, (2) Both guys are motivated to score for their respective lines, (3) The entire team benefits.
Torts would do that.
PM will refuse to tell Scheif to pick up his hot mess of a game. Loyalty to a veteran, first and foremost with the Jets coach.
Both Wheeler and Scheif would have been benched by Torts by now. PM slaps them on the shoulder and tells them good game.

I don’t think it’s justifiable to shit on Laine for the "second" line’s great play. Stastny has always played well with Ehlers and Laine, and Copp has been a nice surprise now that he’s up.
Laine was very instrumental in the first game’s win and the line kept on playing great even without him. It’s not like he was dragging it down, that’s just silly.

It's time to back off for a second when you are arguing how about great Torts' approach to player relationship management is.

I can't with the constant Maurice bashing around here. It's gotten way out of f***ing hand.

It's fine to criticise the coach but when you can't post anything but whiny diatribes about Paul Maurice you're really polluting this board and impacting the actual enjoyment and discussion/ debate.

FFS we're 5-2 and look like we're really going to have a strong season. Just try and f***ing enjoy it already.

It's actually even gotten better since the Laine trade due to the exodus of a few nameless posters too

What's up fellow Jets fans haven't posted here in awhile good to see y'all again.

That Copp Stastny Ehlers line has amazing chemistry! Oilers Jets games are always exciting was kind of funny to see Scheifele get sent to the shadow realm by Mcdavid, but he made up for it on that empty goal. GO JETS GO

Because for those posters it wasn't about the Winnipeg Jets it was about Patrik Laine. This is the Jets forum.

In other news - Jets own a full quarter of the NHL's top 20 scoring list

A refinement to the bolded statement...

It's a Jet's fan forum... some of them only came to watch Laine... which even I think was shallow...

But they contributed... because Laine was here...

Jet's fans show up for different reasons... and there is nothing wrong with that...

Avgard’s posts provided a lot of Comedic Relief during turmoil :) I’ll miss his contributions.

The losing Avagard joke is a newer running joke...

I liked his early stuff... this years not the best... too bitter... not enough unintended humor...

Whoever this person is... they are a legend on HFJets...

I always like Ehlers' interviews - strangely serious at times but in a fun way (vs say Scheif who is normal serious)

Copp had some good breakdowns on what makes that line work, although I think he started to get tired of all the Ehlers questions  (although good on the reporters finally realising Ehlers is good!)

Honestly didn't think Hellebuyck played bad. Sure four goals, but the Jets have very good offense. But what the Jets need to do is improve the defense in whatever way they can. As the defense is our screaming weakness right now, I do think we're the best Canadian team in the league. Let's just hope Stastny takes a seniors discount next season.

It will never happen but
Harkins-Scheif-Wheeler
Connor-PLD-Appleton
Ehlers-Stats-Copp
Perrault-Lowry-Lewis

this is a heck of a lineup to roll three lines at 16-18 mins and actually play your fourth line as a shut down line

The
Ehlers Copp Laine
Ehlers Stastny Laine

Were good lines during that magical year.
From feb to end of season they were gold.
They actually supplied the offense most nights to keep up with the Preds during that stretch there.

Copp Stastny Ehlers i believe can work well together.
I dont want to put Stastny on wing.

Torts is a raging psychopath. But he plays the best player regardless of veteran experience.
PM comes off as kind, well spoken, and thoughtful, also loyal to his veterans to a fault.
I'd simply like to merge the coaches best qualities into one coach. One that will give ice time to the players playing their best hockey more ice time, and less ice time to the ones that are playing poorly, without Torts like rage.

Ehlers, Copp, Stastny and Big Adam Lowry, what a bunch!

TOI distribution was a bit dubious as always with Maurice, but at least he did give pretty nice TOI for Copp. Still even Ehlers will not score 1+3 very often with 16.xx TOI.

Stastny has really woken up. He was a bit rusty for like 3 first games. In the previous game that assist to Ehlers was a beauty and this game his assist to Ehlers after dragging all attention to him was not too bad either.
