Post-Game Talk: Oilers Jets Post Game

Torts is a raging psychopath. But he plays the best player regardless of veteran experience.
PM comes off as kind, well spoken, and thoughtful, also loyal to his veterans to a fault.
I'd simply like to merge the coaches best qualities into one coach. One that will give ice time to the players playing their best hockey more ice time, and less ice time to the ones that are playing poorly, without Torts like rage.

Yes - I believe he got at least one assist.

Yup. Got one assist for that empty netter. Playing 26+ minutes.

Though he also did hit post once so pretty close to 1+1.

This is how I see the Jets this year, and improvements :

1) Nik Ehlers is the best Jet so far this year ( should be on #1 PP)

2) Paul Stastny is a very slick playmaking center.

3) Andrew Copp, starting to gain a nice scoring touch.

4) Perrault starting to look good again.

We will be "very tough to beat when Dubois is in the lineup !!!

We are not at all missing a beat with Laine gone - maybe better.

I'm not sure what they do with Copp and Stastny when PLD is inserted into the lineup ? Maybe Stastny gets moved to wing on the 2nd line ? and then move Copp to the 3rd line,

OR

Run 3 scoring lines with Stastny centering the "new 3rd line" -- maybe

2nd line -- Ehlers -- PLD -- Perrault

3rd line -- Copp -- Stastny -- Appleton ( or another)

We could have 3 scoring lines, or good with 2 very strong ones -- nice problem to have.

The rust isn't totally off him... but Vegas' masterplan is filled with interesting choices...

I'm pretty sure they thought Stastny would have a rebound, but needed the cap...

But they sure as hell didn't count on Dubois as a Jet...

That was a dominant win. It would not have seemed close if Helle had been good. A rare 2 weak games in a row from Helle, giving up 3 goals on the first 6 shots. He settled down and was solid the rest of the way.

The Stastny line continues to be on fire. The Lowry line is pretty hot too.

The defense is still not where I would like to see it. It is bending, but not breaking. If they can keep that up, this team can go places.

So ........ does PLD slide right in, or will he have to start on the taxi squad?
JK, but it is hard to say who should step aside for him. Scheifele maybe?
Really, should PLD push Stastny down to the 3rd line with the way Stastny is playing? If so, should Stastny push Lowry down with the way Lowry is playing? Maybe PLD plays a wing until someone cools off. So which winger should he bump? Copp, with the way he is playing?

Nope, none of those. PLD can apparently play RW too, so Wheeler? Can't see that. And certainly not Ehlers. Perreault? Even he is playing well. I guess it will have to be Gus. PLD will centre the 4th line.

Torts would do that.
PM will refuse to tell Scheif to pick up his hot mess of a game. Loyalty to a veteran, first and foremost with the Jets coach.
Both Wheeler and Scheif would have been benched by Torts by now. PM slaps them on the shoulder and tells them good game.

I'd like to see us get a sizeable lead one game and PoMo leave Scheif and Wheeler out for 2 minute shifts and don't let them off even if they want to.

Ya, PoMo has to play Stastny with at least one top player. He is an amazing playmaker.

this is a heck of a lineup to roll three lines at 16-18 mins and actually play your fourth line as a shut down line

Usually I don't like these "spread out talent" lines but that one actually looks like it'd be fun to try.

Scheif has 10 pts in 7 games so he must be doing something right. But he and Wheeler were both having trouble handling the puck tonight. Almost the only criticisms of any Jets skaters tonight.

Dubois doesn’t need to be here for that since 2nd line is already our best line it’s about the coach. Mo will always play wheeler and schief significantly more.

Yep but same problem if we had kept laine. In a theoretical world we should have traded laine for a 1st pairing d and bumped all the d down but we got one in Heinola and mo is gonna mo.

I don’t think it’s up to you to decide why someone follows a sports team, if they rooted for the Jets because of Laine only so be it. Why do you root for the Jets, because it’s your hometown team?

CBJ seems to have set up a thread to welcome the very posters you were celebrating moved over there. That’s quite a stark contrast.
