Puckpedia has the Oilers 7.2 mil over the cap with including both Broberg and Holloway's cap hits on it

with Kane going to LTIR and a Ceci trade, we could fit them in

Coming in peace, what are the chances that you think the Oilers match on either player?

Holloway being a cheaper contract there's a chance their looking at making it work so maybe 50/50, depending on what they see in Savoie maybe filling his role cheaper.

Broberg is more of a need on the roster, but at a little over 4.5 million thats a hard caphit to swallow without moving someone out besides Ceci.

Also this depends on where Kane is at in LTIR terms.

Next year would be the issue tho as we can't LTIR Kane an entire season

I voted to let them both walk. Both chose the money, that’s their choice. Neither are worth it to keep and have around here as others took discounts to come here. See ya to both of them, don’t really wish you any luck because I want St. Louis to flounder miserably for years and they will be part of it.

Again, and I keep seeing this from you guys, how is this the fault of Oilers management? I'm not understanding this.

Again, these guys weren't signing lowball offers knowing what could potentially be out there and what else can you do? Sign them for more than these offer sheets cost and not sign a few of the guys they signed in free agency? I don't understand what the issue is with Jackson, should he have forced Holloway and Broberg to sign cheap contracts?

The reality is that contracts like Nurse's, and the Campbell dead cap (the Campbell signing in the first place), are what makes teams vulnerable to offer sheets none of which are JJ's fault.
You don't have to convince me on the bad contracts. I've beaten those subjects to death. Just annoying that they're caught between a rock and a hard place on two young players who seemed to be finally coming alive and there's a good chance we're left with basically nothing. I think you could've let Perry and maybe Henrique walk, but either way there's no real good outcome to this.

Broberg is still a massive question mark and 4.5m is extremely steep. I saw a guy who looked like all his minutes in the AHL were finally paying off but can you rely on that short of a sample size? The Holloway deal is an easy match, I'd prefer to match both but Bowman will have to get creative.

These are overpays and I’d probably walk on both and just sign new guys for a little over a mil each.

It sucks because these guys are still young and could get better, but for right now it’s not a massive loss. But still, get f***ed Blues. Yet another team I now hate.. getting to be a lot

The hard part is neither player is currently worth that salary, especially Broberg. But I also see both players as key pieces in the future.

For those saying "if we can get rid of Ceci, it would have happened already." No. There won't be an improvement on him out there until the trade deadline. It was reported that the Oilers could get a small asset in return for him, but they're hanging on to him for insurance purposes.

I think they should match the offer sheets, LTIR Kane and move on from Ceci.

However, my expectation is they let Broberg walk. If that's the case, a guy like Kemp should be getting ready for his opportunity.

Stetcher will play the right side for the regular season if/when they let Broberg walk.

Not really. If there's no way we can match it then there's nothing we could have done short of trading the player earlier, which wasn't going to happen. Agents aren't idiots, I'm positive the player and agent knew this might be coming and wouldn't have accepted anything less from us.
Lol yeah Broberg agent new some one was gonna offer him near triple what he is worth at the moment? Common now...
