Del zotto for Michaelek? Though a little concerned about his injuries. But he's a scorer who can play LW and adds size to the top 6 at 6'3 235 and both deals will be up after this year

how about something around Del Zotto and Kyle Clifford and 1st round pick to Rangers

Dennis Bernstein ‏@DennisTFP 37m
League source tells TFP Kings Kyle Clifford will be shipped out of LA but Habs are NOT in mix in prospective deal "No chance to MTL"

Del Zotto and Mats Zuccarello to Kings for Kyle Clifford Tanner Pearson Colin Fraser and 1st round pick 2014

Would love clifford, but I don't want futures. Pearson and the 1st are unnecessary as is Fraser. Don't see why we give up Zuccarello, either. He'll be an extremely cheap top 6 option next year.

I think giving up Del Zotto for Clifford makes us a worse team, too. If we get clifford, I'd rather give up futures+salary.

No way. First, how are we fitting Michalek's cap hit? His cap hit is almost 2 mil more than DZ's. Second, yes, they both have 1 year left on their deals, but Michalek will be a UFA. We're trading DZ for what might be one year (if he's healthy) of Michalek?

DZ is worth a lot more than that, both to us as a player, and as a trade chip. We aren't trading DZ unless we are getting a young, proven player back. One who will still be RFA when his contract is up.

Didn't see this posted, take with a grain of salt

@nhlupdate: I wouldn't be surprised if the Rangers attempt to trade Brian Boyle or Anton Stralman. Throwing that out there this morning for kicks.

I think trading either would be a mistake, but particularly Stralman. We don't have enough RHD as it is.

One of our six youth in rotation for Clifford. Hrivik? Lindberg?

Deal Pyatt, Boyle...

LA needs players with low cap hits.

Yeah, and one is a RFA and the other is a UFA.

HUGE difference.

So do we.

Kristo, Miller, and Kreider will most likely all be on the team in the next year or so.

How many cheap, young players do we need? Clifford affords us a different type of player than we currently have vying for roster spot.

We have no cap space. If LA is trading Clifford to save cap space, how are we in any better position to fit him? Sure, we can trade someone, but it would have to be to a 3rd team.

The Rangers need Stralman unless they're getting an upgrade or a younger D who won't be a group III next season.

Boyle is another issue. There is no fit for Boyle with Moore on the roster. Stepan.Brassard.Richards.Moore. That's 4. Miller and Lindberg are centers. It might be time to cash in on the asset instead of losing him for nothing next summer. Boyle has been here for 4 years. 1 really good year. He was terrible in his first season. The Rangers didn't have him in their plans to make the team in 10-11. The last two years have been inconsistent. Not sure what the big deal is with the Rangers moving Boyle.

Still go back to what Vigneault said on the day he was introduced as the Rangers coach.

"Up front, I believe there's the potential for two real solid offensive lines," Vigneault added. "After that, in talking to Glen, we feel we've got a couple of good, young kids that are close, that are going to prove if they're NHL-bound with training camp and those exhibition games we have."

That's before Kristo was acquired.

And this

THE YOUTH

Vigneault talked about how he has developed top young talent — think the Rangers’ Chris Kreider and J.T. Miller — especially on the offensive end.

“When I got to Vancouver, the twins, Hank and Danny (Sedin), were both 25 years old. Ryan Kesler was only 22. Kevin Bieksa, Alex Burrows, they were all just young men,” Vigneault said. “We were able to develop them, and they’ve all become really good players in the NHL. And I’m very confident that we can do the same thing here in New York.”

The Rangers will need some of their young guys to provide some offense because they have no money to acquire other players. Those players need the opportunity. We know what the veterans can provide. Nothing.

Clifford would be a nice addition. He's more than just a physical guy who can scrap.

Trading Stralman would be asinine unless the Rangers are adding another RHD who can play in the top-six and has upside. Franson is still out there as an unsigned RFA.

Well, for starters, the guys you listed (and Lindberg, Fast, Hrivik, and other young players always listed around here) can actually do something in the NHL before we start deciding we have too many of them.

I swear, some of you guys are so concerned about the next move you wind up outsmarting yourselves.

wouldn't miss Boyle....at all.

Same thing was said about Blair Betts. was easily replaced.

Boyle offers the same nothing beyond decent defence and solid PK ability

Other than that, a very replaceable player.

Stralman is a solid 3rd pairing defenceman that can spot up on the 2nd pair and as you mentioned, is a RHD of which we have limited.

Naw, we're good. In fact I think they should skip the next few drafts.

I would LOVE Kyle Clifford from the Kings, but absolutely not at the expense of Anton Stralman. Has been rock solid for this team, we also have like no RHD....

Boyle at least provides some value to the team. He PKs. He takes faceoffs. Yes, Moore can fill that role as well, but having 2 players who can do it isn't a bad thing.

I would much rather trade Pyatt than Boyle, though obviously there would be more interest in Boyle around the league and we'd be more likely to get something of value back. RB makes a good point about getting something for him before he hits UFA. Are we likely to re-sign him? If he isn't in the plans beyond this year, then maybe it would be best to trade him now.

Yeah I agree with that, if boyle isn't in long term plans which I doubt he is, move him and see what kid can take his spot on the 4th line

trade Boyle and see if Lindberg can make it as a 4th line center. he was playing in a mens league in sweden so he should not be that far away... Boyle for some WHL prospect and a pick would be good. time to clear some salary. Boyle will make close to 2.0 at 1.9 next year.. that is a lot for what little he brings.
