Pyatt was good in the playoffs but if he's gonna only show up for 2-3 weeks during the regular season, that's a problem.

Worst case scenario he becomes a 13th forward with occasional duty and can be inserted into a playoff series for the corner battles.

He'll be a problem not just because he's the player he is but eating up 1.55 as the 13th is gonna hurt. Would rather see an energy guy like Haley there. Losing Cally and Hags prob means we have to hold onto him though early season. Mid-way i see him being expendable by one of the kids.

Its just amazing to me.

I've posted it before, but whatever.

Don't hate the player, hate the game. Literally. (NHL 13)

Short of coming off a cup, retaining all key players, shedding nonessential players, gaining cap space, drafting well, rise in value in our prospects, there are always going to be things that this team apparently needs to do in order to even compete.

I don't mind the balance we've struck. The one key ingredient to every hockey team that everyone conveniently forgets about is players stepping up. A cup run can be rocketed by a few extra players stepping up and seasons can be turned around too. Last year, the only person who really took the next step was Step while a lot of players regressed or didn't do much to help the team to the next level. Hopefully with AV and the new coaching staff, players will be given the tools and opportunities to elevate their game.

Training camps open on September 11.

Traverse City begins September 5. Labor Day is September 2.

After the NHL lockout wiped out the Traverse City prospects tournament for the first time in 15 years, the Detroit Red Wings announced it would return for the 2013-14 season.

GM Ken Holland announced Monday that the annual NHL Prospects Tournament at Training Camp at the Center ICE Arena in Traverse City, Mich., will be back with a bang, as eight teams are set to participate: the Red Wings, Buffalo Sabres, Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues.

This year’s event will feature each team playing four games a day for four days — Sept. 5, 6, 8 and 9.

Yay! Can't have hockey back soon enough. I sat at my desk wondering why I've been feeling empty lately, can't wait for some hockey.

September 11 is 8 weeks from tomorrow. Not Thursday. Training camp is 20 days. Season starts October 1. Either the 1st or 2nd. The Rangers will be on west coast somewhere. Opening in VAN should be the season opener. The Rangers will play VAN in pre-season. Revis is playing his first game as a Buc against the Jets in Jersey. Makes sense.

Not a fan of these lame PR matchups. Not to start the season.

Whats it been, 5 or 6 years now since we opened at home ?

So he's going to have a great season and then be bought out? lol

Yeah, but that benefits him. He has a huge season and either:

a)He makes it REALLY hard for the Rangers to buy him out next summer. I still think they will irregardless but still...

b)He gets bought out. He collects the money from the Rangers. But, now, since he's had a great season someone is going to give him another bloated contracted to go along with it.

makes sense to me....

I'm wondering when renovations at MSG will be done. How many games will the team play in the road before a long home stand?

I would assume in the neighborhood of 7-8 games. We were on the road for 7 straight in 11-12 and would've started 12-13 with 8 road games if not for the lockout.

No, he's going to have a big season, well in theory anyway, because it's pretty much a contract year for him. He knows he's getting bought out, so if he sucks it up who is going to pay him a lot of money in free agency?

If the construction could last another 10 summers I'd be fine with that. Next season will suck when we start getting hit with paying for pre-season games again. Still would love to hear an explanation for why they charge us full price for those meaningless games. I'd wouldn't complain if playoff games were also the same price. lol

Because they can. As long as people are willing to pay for it, they will do it. It's the same in other sports.

Sorry, but its not adequate depth until the season starts and some of these names prove that can hold down a role. Right now, names have been obtained, but the jury is still out regarding the Rangers can check the box saying they are a team with adequate depth.

Why do they need to explain it when all you'll do is complain yet still pay for it?

Fair enough but that supports my point in the sense of not throwing anyone away.

Lets see what we have, give everyone a chance to play and see what are best team is.
