ngl sick of seeing jake muzzin and this injury news. same old story with that guy

Not his fault, some bad luck. I think like many here, I question if he should even be playing still.

Sandin signing can't come soon enough.

Rielly - Holl
Gio - Brodie
Sandin - Benn

until Lilly is healthy?

he's 33.

last time we saw him he was playing great in a top pair shutdown role.
I think Muzzin is great and possibly the leafs best D when he is 100% healthy but he has been dealing with lingering injuries for the entirety of 2 years now. Coming into camp with back problems already is concerning. Back issues tend to put an early end to player's careers. I really hope he recovers and it is just a minor issue but would not be surprised at this point he this is his last year. He has to think about his life after hockey too.

I'm pretty sure if both ZAR and Sandin are to be signed, kerfoot is traded. Kampf is back to 3c and maybe holmberg is 4c

I think everyone is waiting to figure out how this all works. It seems probable that ZAR will get signed and likely Sandin too, but how?

Will it be a trade or LTIR to get us there?

The value is fine but it makes for a tricky roster scenario.

Moving Holl for picks would get us under the cap, but not enough for us to carry anyone over the 20 man minimum.
It is seldom mentioned, but moving Engvall is also an option. Leafs have a surplus of bottom six forwards. Moving Engvall frees up $2.25 million, just enough for Sandin at $1.5 million and a minimum salary 7th defenseman.

Edit: My bad. If Sandin is signed, the Leafs will have seven defensemen. They will need to keep a minimum salary forward to replace Engvall.

I got flamed for saying we should trade Muzzin+Sandin for Hampus Lindholm. Now Muzzin still has back injuries and Sandin is barely on the roster. People overrate potential way to much.

Boston just signed him to a long term deal, I don't see why they would trade for a guy with back injuries and an unestablished kid....think of it from their POV, why would you accept that?

I mean with the ducks not Boston when both of them had higher value.

These past playoffs:

Lindholm: 4gms, 21:29, 0gls, 0pts, +2, 3ht, 7bk
Muzzin: 7gms, 22:11, 2gls, 3pts, +4, 25ht, 16bk

And Lindholm has also had major injury issues.

And Lindholm costs more. For 8 years.

And you want to add in a top kid like Sandin too?

Ducks more interested in futures and got a much better return than declining, often injured Muzz and Sandin IMO.

2022-Mar-19 Traded from Anaheim Ducks with Kodie Curran to Boston Bruins for John Moore, Urho Vaakanainen, round 1 pick in the 2022 draft (Nathan Gaucher), round 2 pick in the 2023 draft and round 2 pick in the 2024 draft

Moore 31 year old former 1st round pick (MEH)
Vaakanaien #18 OA 2017 (dud ??)
1st in 22
2nd in 23
2nd in 24

The Anaheim Ducks pulled off a whopper on Saturday, trading defensemen Hampus Lindholm and Kodie Curran to Boston for defenseman Urho Vaakanainen, defenseman John Moore, a 2022 first-round draft pick, a 2023 second-round draft pick and a 2024 second-round draft pick.

Does that look like the Ducks trading for someone like Muzzin?

EDIT: I wanted Lindholm on the Leafs years ago. Too expensive.

Even if Ducks would have entertained that idea, it may not have made our D better overall. Lindholm is a big dude, but not overly physical. If we move Muzzin, or he retires, we need to replace his spot with more physicality. The team is too soft as is.

After a disappointing season it was good to see the old Muzzin in the playoffs. I expect him to pick his spots during the season, but step it up in the playoffs. Fingers crossed he remains healthy for a deep run.

I'm pretty sure he works at a funeral home now. Not kidding.

Oh, it's true.

Seriously migraines can be the real deal. When I get them, they're rare now that I avoid certain foods, I get these blinding flashing lights in my vision plus nausea that follows with the nasty headache. I can't imagine doing anything athletic with that going on.

Used to have the same thing, they just kind of went away as I got older. I wouldn't wish those on my worst enemy. The blinding light (or "halo" as they call it) is almost the worst part just because you know what's coming.

Cant rely on him

Great, now I'm thinking about Ron Wilson even more!

Lindholm is still living off his performance peak a few years ago. I feel like this fan base would not like him - like Freddie the Goat in terms of having a great frame to be a physical beast but just doesn't use it. Obviously he's better overall, but I think it would frustrate this fan base. Personally, I feel like Boston overpaid for him then overpaid in their contract offer.

Quoting my own post to see if anyone has heard what D combos are syncing up at camp? I thought I saw on twitter something about that Gio-Brodie pairing skating together.
