Listen, PK Subban is an amazing defenseman and I probably want him on the team more now than ever knowing how close he is to JT but I just don't think its beneficial for us to offer sheet the guy and give up 5 first rounder's for him while we have a bunch of guys that we just drafted at the same position 1-2 years away. Even if none of our prospect defenseman are as good as Subban which is probably the case, we could still have a very solid defensive corps with 3-4 solid young defenseman and if you want to trade those picks we could round out the rest of the team IE- help for JT and a goalie. Just my take on it, I would love to have Subban and if he was UFA I would pay him a king's ranson along with every other team.

Agreed, it would have to be via trade.

If it came down to it, the Islanders could probably put together one of the more enticing packages in the NHL.

Subban is one of the only players I'd trade Strome for. Totally fine with a 1st, Strome/Reinhart, and another plus asset to get him locked in for 6+ years.

Anyone who disagrees with you knows NOTHING about building a team . . .

Pair him with Reinhart and you have the best D pairing in the NHL when Keith and Seabrook slow down.

And I don't care if it is the #1 overall pick either.

If Reinhart becomes HALF the player Seabrook is, I'd be thrilled. How the hell he was left off of the Olympic team, I'll never know.

That's only 4 dmen, the other 2 or 3 (Vlasic, Hamhuis, Bouwmeester)are not better than Seabrook.

I believe Canada wanted to balance the RHS and LHS defenseman...

Vlasic Hamhuis and JBOW are LH

Subban Doughty Pietro Weber are RH as is Seabrooke...

FWIW I have always wanted Seabrook in the worst way on the Isles

Vlasic is. Hamhuis arguably is(I like him more, but I can see if others don't). You're probably right with Bouwmeester, but TC probably wanted that J-Bo - Pietro pairing together since it's arguably been the best in hockey.

Not to mention I don't think they wanted to bring 5 RH shots. Seabrook, IMO, was the obvious RH to omit.

Coyotes will be buyers according to their gm. They want 1-2 forwards.

Sabres are retaining part of Vanek's salary. Wang retained salary in the Regain/Bouchard trade, so it is likely he will eat some salary if needed for a Vanek trade.

Another potential trade partner.

Can't see it, they don't like adding money without giving some back and Isles will try and unload all of Vanek's salary.

They need a good LW in the worst way though

Phoenix has a up and coming LW in Lucas Lessio, the kid is a gritty drive the net type player. I would not mind seeing him in any deal with Vanek to Phoenix.
I have seen him play a handful of times and he just always seems to be in the middle of everything.
Of course I would prefer Gormley but would be ok with Lessio, a 1st and say DOMI or another good prospect.

This is great under what went right: The Thomas Greiss signing: The coaching staff got to a point last season where it didn't trust backup Jason LaBarbera. Enter Greiss, who has had a couple off-nights, but for the most part, he has delivered what the management and coaches wanted:

"Maloney will travel to watch minor league players such as Max Domi, Laurent Dauphin and Tyler Gaudet to gain a better understanding of what the Coyotes have in their system."

Otherwise known as...what guy(s) are expendable to enhance the club for this playoff run?

Yotes are starving for offense so I don't see any of the young fowards being availibe. They are stacked on defense. Our prospect strength is defense so I don't know if I would want defensive prospects in return and I don't see them giving up Gormley.

They are so in a dif situation then LA or ANA.
Vanek helps them make the playoffs but they are not considered a team that can win the cup so I don't see them giving up anything g significant for Vanek. It could help us drive up his price though.

La ANA and STL I could see anyone of them winning the cup so trading a top prospect to enhance thier cup chances is not a bad trade off. Like Toffili Gibson Allen Jaskin. Best thing for us could be that 4-7 teams are serious about Vanek and are in the same divisions/ conference

And if Wang is willing to retain salary in the Regain/Bouchard deal, why would't he for Vanek's last two paychecks of the 2013-2014 season?

Like IF17, I would LOVE to get Henrik Samuelssen if Phoenix was seriously interested in Vanek. He'd make us bigger and more physical on the wing as early as next season. With Cbuck, Martin, and Ulf's kid... we would be a major pain in the ass to play against. Complement our high end skilled centers with power wingers, that should be the plan. He could win a 3rd line RW spot next season. He has underrated skill.

Add more big power wingers in the draft and we're all set for our forward depth for the foreseeable future. If we were to get Ritchie and he panned out, we could have a power forward type on every line and guys that can and will drop the gloves to protect Tavares, Strome, Nelson (he might need that type of help), and Cizikas. That would mean no more Boulton and Carkner needed for their goon ability. We could go from a relatively soft team to a terror of a team to play against in the mold of Boston and the Kings.

Ok, enough daydreaming.

PHO wants to make the playoffs to develop fan support and demonstrate a commitment to winning under a new solid owner. Trust me, they just want to get in - it's that important.

I would expect Yandle to be on the table if we are moving Vanek to Pho.

Vietnamese Pho is delicious, btw.

No chance there will be a trade involving Yandle for Vanek, if that's what you're saying.

I agree. The Coyotes would not move a core player heading into the playoffs. When they add players for a playoff push, they will offer lower end blue liner/picks/prospects.
