If there is someone out there that needs him, why would they wait to get him? If there isnt a deal in place now, before the teams start playing again, I am not sure why there would be one later.

There is negotiation. Sellers are trying to pit potential buyers against each other to drive up the price. Buyers are talking to other teams to see if they can get a better price.

There is a reason that so many trades happen right at the deadline.

It's a game of poker and who will blink first. Sellers trying to get maximum value and buyers trying to acquire talent for a cup run w/o mortgaging to much of the future.

Some teams will wait until the deadline for the desperation to kick in.

There was a farmer who had a dog and Bingo was his name-o.

I'm sure we have at least one decent offer on the table for Vanek right now... not spectacular, but a perfectly acceptable offer. We have until the deadline to move him, so the smartest plan is to wait and hope a GM panics. Let's see how the Marty St. Louis saga plays out, if him and Callahan leave the market in one fell swoop, we could be seeing some much better offers on the table.

If you want Subban which I do it's going to be alot more than just Amac. Sub ban is one of the highest rated goalie prospects if not the highest at the moment.

Gibson and Vasilevski are both without a doubt higher. They are head and shoulders the top G prospects right now. Subban is in that next tier with guys like Allen and Fucale.

I do agree though. Doubt Boston will consider moving him for MacDonald. Maybe if we send a pick or prospect back.

That's easy. Send Winnipeg native Travis Hamonic.

and maybe Manitoba's own Butch Goring

Isles need goaltending and defense, not less of it. Hamonic was given the role of shutting Malkin down last season in a HUGE role. I highly doubt the organization would move him for a very good player in Evander Kane.

This sucks. Because I would have really loved Evander Kane.

Haha!

Interesting note about Eklund. My brother told me once that he met Eklund before. He said that Eklund has a lot more connections than people think and actually posts everything he hears. Even if there's not a whole lot behind it, he'll still post it just so people have an idea what teams are thinking. So maybe the Isles really do want Kane. Would be cool to snag him.

To be honest I think every teams wants Evander.

Wang cares more about money then winning...JT is out for the season so Vanek wont be traded until march 5...

Wang will try to use what ever he has left of Vanek to sell tickets....and in that time the teams looking for wingers will have acquired the Moulson's Hemskys Jagrs and Cammerlaris....

We will end up trading Vanek out of desperation and get minimal return

Playing Vanek is madness. In all likelihood he gets hurt and the Isles are not able to trade him making the original deal among the worst in recent memory. Who would be surprised if this scenario plays out?

Jeez, if I remember correctly. didn't the Isles sit Billy Guerin as they were working on a deal for him and wound up getting something like a 3rd rounder? The Vanek return is critical to this franchise. I can't see any sound reason to let him play and run the risk of a deal killing injury but, then again, the Isles' management does not always exercise sound judgment.

Actually, if he was smart, he'd trade him ASAP to get his salary off the books.

Yeah lol, I would give up our 1st this season for Kane.
I think Winnipeg would love that. If it's top 2, I say no but 3-5, I'd think about it. Can't ignore his potential and physical tool set but let's not forget he is on pace for 45 points. A top 5 pick is a lot to give up for a guy who has been rumored to move for so long.

Why not get creative and throw in Byfuglien too? I'll give up a D prospect with it. Trouba and Bogosian are main stays on their D for a long time, Byfuglien is a surplus on the right side. Also, Kane is a great piece but isn't a superstar, give them the option of Bennett for example and they can have their go to guy. We take back a lot of salary so I'd go:

Byfuglien and Kane for our first this year provided it's not Reinhart or Ekblad (can't pass that up), Bailey and Pokka.

Hold onto Pulock, Pokka is a good piece, would be respected from their scouting staff.

Haha!

He has called things before whether people like it or not. I do what everyone should do, note it, say "ah, that would be interesting" and take it with a grain of salt. Always fun to discuss though, and sparks conversation!

Big Buff alone will cost you that package, maybe more.

Kane would cost our first this year, plus one nice forward piece (think Nelson or Strome here) or two good pieces, like two of Sundstrom, Lee, Donovan, de Haan, Pokka, and Reinhart.

Kane is the classic change of scene rebound player if there ever was one. Dude is a power forward and will be back to scoring 30+ goals looking great on the top line for the next five years with Tavares and Okposo.

I don't think so. I'd agree to disagree. Byfuglien isn't commanding a top 5 pick, no way is he worth that much. I also am not buying into Kane as much as others.
