Nino has been a solid 2nd/ 3rd line player this year for the Wild. No reason he couldn't be doing the same here which would have increased his value. Instead we traded for and signed an overpaid 4th line banger on the downside of his career. I would have gladly taken my chances with Nino over Clutterbuck. If Nino was a RFA and bolted overseas than so be it, of course he never gave any indication ever he would do that.
I am not sure why some blindly defend the Nino situation. The organization torpedoed his value and we have an overpaid 4th line player with our 5th overall pick. Blame Snow, blame Wang, blame them both. Any way you slice it the team royally ****ed up the Nino situation
EXACTLY!!! The clamor about Nino's trade demand and his voicing displeasure about not being brought up to be with the big team during the playoffs is so overblown. He's young, he's been used to playing big minutes and and being a big part of his team.
Good management finds a way to work with young players especially in hockey where there are so many who play at such a young age. They completely mismanaged the situation and felt compelled to sell a young talent at a deep discount.
What is so confusing is that the very same GM drafted Kiril Kabanov, a player with more well known problems. Why would Snow do that? Simple...he saw an opportunity to steal a player with first round talent and understood that the team had to commit to working on the attitude and maturity issues. With Nino, they contributed to the problems and then disposed of him for a bargain basement return.
Just one of many reasons why there is no hope here as long as the dynamic trio of Wang, Snow and Capuano remain in charge.
