This won't be popular but if Martin has any value I'd add him into a Vanek deal as a type of sweetner if it works. I'm so sour on his game. He just looks happy to be playing in the NHL and doesn't look hungry anymore. None of his hits cause any turnovers or do anything. He doesn't even hit that hard anymore.

If he goes audition Halmo for the fourth line wing job. Also look to see if you could bring back Leo Komarov to fill the role.

It's not a big move but one that could help.

He's been injured for a stretch. Prior to the injury he was doing what you said he doesn't. I'd keep him over non-performers like Bailey and Grabner 8 days a week. We can't compete with physical clubs already and you want to give up 33% of the physical play from the forwards? Really?

Come on already...Olympics is over. I am pressing "refresh" on nhl.com for any trade news. Geez..they had 2 weeks to hash this out with no interference. We gotta hear something soon.

No way we get Callahan. We won't pay him what he wants...why do you think the Rangers are trading him? If the Rangers won't pay..we certainly won't

What do you guys think about trading A. Mac.? I would think teams would want him and maybe the isles can get someone good in return.

Islanders have to pay somebody, my fear though is 7M to Calahan means we will cheap out in other areas we have more pressing needs(goaltending/defense)

It is because the way Snow handled him but that has been rehashed. If Nino had such little value its simple do not trade him. Logic and Snow don't go together

This is how I fealt.

We controlled his rights so it was NA with the isles or Europe.

If he plays well this year and still wanted out so be it but atleast his value would have been higher.

But I can also see wanting to just get rid of his additude

If Moulson's agent pumped his tires enough to get his next contract within 1.5M of Vanek, I wouldn't be surprised, especially if it's a Chicago or Vancouver or another team that has the sort of center who can practically force-feed Moulson 40% of his points.

Other than that, if you think Moulson's getting more than Vanek, I hope you don't spend times at a bookie's box. There's no center outside of Crosby that would make Moulson as valuable as Vanek other than Tavares himself (Stamkos is a shooter - different kind of player) and while I see Moulson getting $4.8M from someone with a hair trigger, Vanek can get $7 from a team that isn't.

I think you missed my point. Moulon is definitely not going to get paid more than Vanek; but he could conceivably return even value or more at the deadline if there is a team out there that believes they can lock him up while Vanek is pretty much a known rental.

Unlikely, yes... but I'm allowing for the possibility.

Ok,

Nino was handled poorly by Snow who was forced to reach the cap floor by the NHL. Wang tells Snow bring up Nino and his cap hit to circumvent the cap issues.

Nino fails for the year based on Wang's needs/wants. No surprise that Snow was not told to get further help and demote Nino earlier because Emperor Wang does not want to spend further money.

Next year, Nino is left in Bridge because extra money was found. Wang tells Snow you can spend a bit and keep the child in the Bridge.

Nino and Nino's agent are furious and cry. Snow does not bring Nino up, may have been further crying behind the scenes. NO ONE KNOWS!

Nino through his agent asks for a trade, (value drops even further from his crap year on the Isles).

Nino can be a RFA after this year and can play in the SEL, KHL, FIN, SWI. The Isles have 2 options - leave him overseas as a RFA until he is a UFA (value drops again) or cut bait and trade him at a depreciated value.

Sure Nino has improved and was always a decent scorer in the minors and Portland but was his attitude worth keeping him with the other children in the Bridge pouting? NO.

The Isles lost a 5th pick for cents on the dollar from their own fault compounded by the child's behavior and his agent.

It wasn't a case extra money was found it was a case the NHL/NHLPA were onto the Islanders shenanigans and made a rule bonuses don't count towards the cap min unless the player actually hits them.

I think where the Islanders went wrong was not at least inviting up Nino for training camp, he at least deserved that

Do not disagree and in essence money was available to add crap replacements. Not saying Nino was any better in his 1 year audition.

As I said if nothing else they should have invited him to training camp(then sent him down). His Season in Bridgeport to that point at least warranted that

Bruins fan here. What do you think the Islanders would be looking for if they traded Andrew MacDonald? Seems to be the perfect fit for the Bruins to replace Seidenberg in their top 4.
