Not to keen on Callahan. We already have the Lightning 2nd. Could be a 1 if they win it.

What else are we getting to take on Callahan?

Carolina gave Chicago a 2nd and a 3rd for Teravainen and Bickell. Ironically, the 2nd round pick was originally ours. Bickell only had 1 year left with a 4 mil cap hit.

I thought he was ready to break out and looked great for Tampa but looks like he’s gone backwards. I’m looking wrong on this one. Really hated moving miller.

Shattenkirk would have to be going the other way and we get another first PLUS a kid
The Lightning have a majority of their roster under contract next year for like $73M. And they need to give Point a new deal. They want to move Callahan just to clear space, so they can't take back another big salary.

Prediction for tonight's game:

McQuaid goes down to block a shot and takes one off the boot. Lays on the ice for a minute while we collectively pray, "Please don't be hurt, please don't be hurt." He limps off the ice. They cut to a shot of him writhing on the bench and we all collectively pray again, "Please don't be hurt, please don't be hurt."

Sounds about right, hehe

Miller has been up and down this season. Has been better as of late.

It's interesting that Lias was called up prior to any trades happening and he's playing over Nieves and Smith. Could just be that since he's up why not let him play and see some NHL action. But could it also be some sort of showcase for Lias being part of a bigger deal? Doubtful. But a thought.

C'mon now. We all know that puck will deflect off of Mcquaid's boot into Zucc's head giving him a concussion, and while falling to the ice Zucc's skate will slice a tendon on Hayes.

These threads are honestly my favorite thing about being a Rangers fan. The dark pessimistic humor. I remember sitting in the old blue seats as a kid for my second ever game at MSG and enjoying the fan commentary more than the game because Lemieux was destroying us.

That is actually a valid point.

Has there been any news? Feel like this time last year there were already a bunch of trades.

I normally don't believe in the idea of showcasing a player, but you're right that the timing is weird. You'd figure that if he was up as a backup in the event of a trade that things would be close enough to hold a guy out of the lineup. I doubt Smitty or Nieves are being held out for a trade, so why bring him up now when he's almost certainly coming up next week?

That's a tough trade to make though with what they have invested in Lias. I realize that a draft selection is a sunk cost after the fact, but to deal away your highest pick in over a decade two years after drafting him? You better be getting something really good in the deal.

If we’re serious about adding ufas this summer how does bringing Callahan and his horrible contract back help us do that? It’s not like we have that much room.

Only way I’d entertain that is if we’re sending them Shattenkirk and getting a a 2020 first rounder and a good prospect in return.

Simple answer is that we are not going to serious about adding ufas this summer like we didn’t last summer
