Just learning from Edmonton and Arizona and Buffalo and Florida that once you let yourself get that bad it's almost damn near impossible to turn it around. Those franchises buried themselves in a 10 foot hole and they're actually closer to digging themselves deeper than getting out of it.

I hashed this argument out yesterday, so I won't re-litigate it. But I find this desire for eternal mediocrity confounding.

You have to have good management and a plan and a good coach. Those teams haven't had much of either

Which of those teams had 6-8 1st round picks in a 3 year period?

Those teams didn't do what we are doing. They sold some players, but not to the extent that we have. We made the decision to rebuild at the right time, when we still had/have plenty of good players. If you already suck and have few good players to use as trade capital, yeah, rebuilding is harder. We also don't have any huge cap issues. Our only problem contracts will be gone within 2 years.

What we are doing is closer to what Toronto did than what those teams did, but there's no getting around the fact that it's going to take time.
