Would be really risky for Nashville to empty their cupboard for two UFA's when there is a team as good as Tampa that, in all likelihood, they'll have to get past to win the Cup

Their time is now.

If not now then when?

And they wouldn't have to worry about Tampa until the Finals at the latest, it's not like they're going to see them round 1. Plus they're already a pretty damn good team in their own right.

Plus things happen in the playoffs, guys get hurt, go cold, goalies suck. We've seen many super duper powerhouses go out much sooner than you'd expect.

Notice that Ottawa took back no big salaries in that deal,

Which is how Gorton should be answering the phones, instead of Hello, just say, I have tons of cap space and don't care about the salary that comes along with.

He didn’t say who but from what I can gather it’s calgary Pitt Boston Dallas

He said multiple high picks or high pick and prospect.
That really translates to Calgary and Dallas. Pitt and Boston, I just don't see it. No trade to the East, (Zuccha would hate that) and they dont have nearly what we can get from those Western teams.

Duchene to CBL was the best senerio for us going into the TDL. Took him and Panerin off the market in one move.

Made Hayes and Zucc much more desirable.
Here is what I think people forget. Being the first two teams to make a big trade can backfire for both parties involved. The seller can see demand driven up for inferior players and have them fetch similar returns. For the buyer, if other GM's really aren't willing to shell out that much at the deadline, they could have likely waited and paid a better price.

I don't know that it is particularly likely but in the right scenario he could fetch a little bit less than Duchene.

Hey, I'm all for it, but I think it's a long shot. It's unrealistic to expect not one but two players to acclimate to a totally new team/city in a month or two and actually be key contributors in the post season

Nashville.

They're actually the most likely team and Poile is aggressive enough with the right assets to do it.

Just learning from Edmonton and Arizona and Buffalo and Florida that once you let yourself get that bad it's almost damn near impossible to turn it around. Those franchises buried themselves in a 10 foot hole and they're actually closer to digging themselves deeper than getting out of it.
All small market teams that no one wants to play for. We have nothing in common with them.

Poile has attempted it before.

And its not like they're going to be counted on to be focal points of that team. Hayes and Zucc would be like the 6th and 7th best players on that team.
