What type of package are you guys expecting for Hayes?

Late 1st + B prospect or something better?

Appears that Gorton is gonna string Hayes along to the 11th hour.

Stone may be holding him up a bit but there’s gotta be 3-4-5 teams very interested in Hayes.

I really think for whatever reason that was the highest ceiling he could get for Zucc

Feel really bad for Zucc. Has an electric start and gets a goal and a helper in his first game with them and then breaks his arm requiring surgery.

His first impression of the Stars facilities will be with the medical staff. Not exactly a positive “homecoming” I have absolutely no idea of the level of how Dallas treats their players but I can tell you for sure it’s probably not near the level of the Rangers. We’ve heard for years how the players talk about the Rangers being a bar-none level franchise.

What I’m getting at is not only does Zuccs injury (and Benns) hurt their chances of making and moving on in the playoffs, but it also could adversely effect his impression of the club as a whole and lower the chances of him resigning.

Or it could have the opposite effect who knows

I think you may be over analyzing it.

If anyone here thinks gorton is going to wake up tomorrow and rip off 4 trades by 3pm which is really what needed to happen you’re mistaken. He as usual held his cards too long.

to answer your question, yes. that's spot on with what I'd expect.

However... in reality, Im REALLY expecting a return that is some sort of abstraction that includes any number of the following:

1. conditionals
2. 7th round picks
3. prospect with toughness that isn't B level
4. prospect with character that isn't B level

example:

- C level prospect that's known for character
- 2nd round pick in 2020 (with the condition that it turns to a first and also adds an additional 7th if the C level prospect is surveyed to have poor character after a neutral party evaluates him at the end of 2019)

Setting unrealistic expectations just so you bitch about him not pulling off 4 trades (when he really only needs to pull of 2) tomorrow.

I mean sure it's harder, but far from impossible. Isn't the leading pint earner in the league a 3rd rounder?

No one said it's impossible, but it's proven to be incredibly difficult, especially for this team. I'd feel much better about this rebuild if they were picking from a spot that even they can't f*** up. Look at the rest of the top 15/20. Sure, there are a couple of late round gems in there, but the list is littered with top 5 picks, particularly first and second overalls.

Gorton should be in on this

waiver wire material in a year or two
there's a reason he couldn't crack CBS

'respectable draft pick' means a 3rd, i wouldn't spend a 3rd on this tweener. and i dont really value draft picks all that much

Sonny Milano doesn’t do much for me.

I feel like he was a guy the board had a crush on during his draft year, but 5 years later he still doesn’t strike me as even a high-end support player.

Whenever I see him in the AHL, I can’t help but feel he plays a very small man’s game, without having the higher end skill to push beyond it.

Just curious... why does Lundqvist's name not come up in any trade talks... not that I'm aware of anyways. Has he ever publicly stated that he's staying a Ranger for life and will stick through a rebuild until he retires?

If he were in play would you move him for Bobrovsky or have you got your future #1 in your system already?

Columbus is obviously going all in right now and are going to lose Bob for nothing. Given Bob's playoff record, Lundqvist would be a huge upgrade for a serious run. The opportunity to win a cup could really spark Henrik too. The only question is if Bobrovsky would re-sign in NY... and I can't see any reason why not. (I also know nothing of your cap situation) He's still a great regular season goalie and could be a very integral part of a rebuild.

Go gentle on me...

Hayes extended, Pionk and Georgiev

for

Valimaki/Kylington, Jankowsi and 2nd (conditional WCF/or cup, turns to 1st )
