We are not in a position to trade young assets for a D-man right now.

I feel like we never see these things during the deadline.
Those kinds of deals usually happen over the summer.
I don't even mean something major. Just something unorthodox that shows they're willing to think outside the box a little bit.

Think he said the unconventional thing will be a summer thing if it happens at all

I have faith in @BBKers and am trying to be patientI want to hope that the Rangers will do something out of left field that we look back on and say, "Man, that really did wonders for the rebuild" but they'll probably just deal their rentals and keep piling up as many picks and prospects as they can.

It might’ve been a long time coming, but I don’t think it would’ve been that hard for them to keep making the playoffs for another few years. And I feel like they’ve been trying unconventional stuff and not getting it done for various reasons in regards to moving up at the draft. Maybe this is the year they pull off some sort of trade to get into the top 3/5 if they’re outside of that rangeIdk. I feel like the rebuild was a long time coming, and I think taking back a bad contract or two is also kind of obvious. I want to see something out of left field that nobody was expecting.
sorry if I missed something but just logged on but what would be this piece?Man, if we could finesse an unwanted piece in, I would sell Skjei stock’s tomorrow without blinking. I do not think he will become a winning player. I’m selling.

Looks like Simmonds to Tampa
Wonder how similar his return would be to Montour'sDo something crazy. Throw Pionk's name out there.

I don’t think that thing is out of the cards, I think that sort of thing will come when we start getting some of these prospects creating a logjam. I could also be misremembering because so much was said yesterday, but I think @BBKers said something about balancing out the depth of L/R defensive prospects this summerThat's fair, but I think they knew a change was needed and that it could be done.
What I really want is for the team to buy low on another kid like they did with Zibanejad and Strome. I was hoping the team would be able to land Bennett, Domi, Galchenyuk, or Lindholm this summer as a reclamation project. Two of them went on to be impact players for their team. When I cut through the wishy-washy language, that's really what I'm looking for out of this team.
