For all the shit Staal gets (me included) he is a great role model for these up and coming players. As of course is Hank.

The argument that Zucc must be kept to help future kids 'learn the right way' is arguably the worst one out there.

In fact, I think this team is much more disciplined with Quinn at the helm than with AV.

I really just don't see any rational argument for having kept him. If they really want to keep him, they quite clearly already have their foot in the door for an offer come July 1st. What is the sense in keeping him these last 20 games?

I realize the chances might be lower now that he re-signs, because of some hard feelings. But if Zucc is as great a leader as everyone claims here, than he understands this is a business savvy move from the organization and he can easily hold out until July 1st and try to come back.

I cannot see any rationale for having kept him for 20 meaningless games.

Not to go off topic, but if this team is going to name a captain it should be Staal. Now hear me out, the captaincy can be a strain, look how it affected McDonagh. I wouldn’t give it to Kreider if he re-signs, he has enough consistency issues, or Mika. Let Mika continue doing what he doing. At this point, Staal is what the second longest tenured player here? I guarantee you he’s well regarded in the locker room. We know he’s not the same player anymore, so give him the captaincy, let him be the lightning rod, it won’t affect his game since it really can’t get much worse, and let the other guys continue playing their game.

I agree let staal wear the C until he finishes out his contract/career... by that time Lias will be grown up enough to wear it after him

Why the hell is NHL Network showing Sportsnet and not TSN?
TV rights. It’s the same reason Golf Channel doesn’t air the Masters and just talks about what’s happening at The Masters.

Viewers are enraged but those entities literally can not show what they’re leagally not allowed to show.

Viewers don’t care but it’s big $ and illegal

Yeah, but NHLN isn’t affiliated with Sportsnet. So they pay to broadcast their feed and chose Sportsnet over TSN. It’s clearly an inferior broadcast that they’re also likely paying less for. But they lose viewers by doing so.

NHL net is owned by Comcast/NBC UNI.

TSN is not shockingly in bed w ESPN (same graphics package and everything)

It’s not a stretch to see why NHL Net WON’T EVER be broadcasting an ABC/ESPN product

Except they have before. I think last years TDL was Sportsnet, but before that it was TSN.

If they were to trade Kreider, now is not the time. This is one of the most buyer-friendly deadlines in some time. Everybody is getting underwhelming returns.
