Really like that move for Colorado. Didn't give up much and creates some opportunity for a club that is weak at C. Maybe move Jost out of 2nd line C and onto Brassard's wing with Landeskog on the Left wall.

Still deciding if he is a linchpin worth extending or not.

There are a lot of players who could move yet. If you're a team looking at Simmonds, Stone, Staal, Ferland etc. you're not trading the higher round draft picks until you know for sure whether you're going to move on them or not--because you might need those draft picks to make it happen. I don't think McQuaid's going to move until somewhere between 2:30 and 3. There are a bunch of other players as well that will probably move in that timeframe.

Also, to what end? I think the 2022/2023 for true contention thrown out a page or so back is accurate. So giving term to a 26 year old this summer is pointless.

McQuaid for a 2019 conditional 3rd if he re-signs. Becomes a 2019 3rd if his team wins a round and he does or doesn't play. Becomes a 2019 3rd if he is injured in his 1st game.

I think it'll take a lot to fall into place to jumpstart things, but it really does depend on the talent we're talking about.

In 2021, Miller and Kravtsov will barely be old enough to buy beers, and whoever we take this year will just be out of their teen years.

I feel like the concept of a "contender" is thrown around a little too easily. Calgary is a contender. Tampa is a contender. Toronto is a contender. Winnipeg is a contender. Nashville as well.

St. Louis? Dallas? Carolina? Eh, not so much.

The idea is to have layers of kid generations coming in on ELCs and bridges so you can handle market price UFAs. You can start the process there IMO.

They'll also almost certainly package a buncha stuff in at least one trade. Plethora of assets but only 23 roster spots. 21-22 for the beginning of a solid 7 year window IMO.
