I think it'll take a lot to fall into place to jumpstart things, but it really does depend on the talent we're talking about.

In 2021, Miller and Kravtsov will barely be old enough to buy beers, and whoever we take this year will just be out of their teen years.

I feel like the concept of a "contender" is thrown around a little too easily. Calgary is a contender. Tampa is a contender. Toronto is a contender. Winnipeg is a contender. Nashville as well.

St. Louis? Dallas? Carolina? Eh, not so much.

Leafs as constructed IMO are not a contender....too top heavy and not gritty enough for playoffs...OK for regular season though .

I know this is going to be a popular opinion but why is this a waste? The Rangers got pretty much free RD depth in a year where they were going into a season where Shattenkirk was coming back from major knee surgery, ADA was working out his kinks and Pionk was a rookie.
