We traded a 4th and a 7th, except ours would have been higher. We traded down for 5 months of Adam McQuaid.

I ****ing told you guys that trade was stupid and he wasn't going to get anything.

When we're talking 4th and 7th round, ten spots or so probably doesn't matter much. Meh

What was the point of trading for him.

To have a guy who can play some defense for us for 3/4 of a year and to roll the dice that he'd be worth more at the deadline. The latter part didn't work out, but we get back what we invested. Having a player actually play for the team does have some value.

So we got effectively worse/lower picks than what we gave up, on top of him playing regular first pairing minutes alongside Skjei and being bad at it (he did not "steady" Skjei or whatever the narrative is).

Dumb. The circle is now complete, but we're worse off.

A big deal would have been not being able to trade the guy.

I know this is going to be a popular opinion but why is this a waste? The Rangers got pretty much free RD depth in a year where they were going into a season where Shattenkirk was coming back from major knee surgery, ADA was working out his kinks and Pionk was a rookie.
