couple thoughts.

first, i would like to see what we have in little lemieux. may well add an element we lack. adding a dose of attitude to this team may serve them well plus, hes not a total hack at all. kids big, can move and plays with some snarl. at 23, hes not going to be a top line guy, but on a 3rd line with ada on the ice, that shift just become more gritty.

the returns seem about adequate. we got back a 1,2,3,4,7 plus some movement depending. all in all, pretty decent return.

having said that, unless we do something with those picks, i remain unimpressed and skeptical based upon this group ability to draft legit top NHL players, or inability.

lastly, adding dylan cozens or alex newhook and art kaliyev on draft day would go along way.

I think given the assess we have accumulated and how Gorts is “thinking” about it. I think they are going to use this offseason to add more foundational pieces and see we can compete soon.

I would not be surprised to see us keep CK and add Panarin and/or EK. I also think he will be very aggressive at the draft to move up for his guy like we saw last year (assuming God isn’t going to be kind and let us win the lottery).

“A few more years of high picks” doesn’t seem like that’s the direction we are going for better or for worse. I also think they are extremely high on Kravtsov.

A few more years of high picks looks exactly like what they are doing. I don't understand how anyone could come to any other conclusion after spending 5 minutes looking at their capfriendly page and the last year of transactions.

EK won't make it to UFA and Panarin isn't coming.

They may extend CK though.

Id rather just keep the draft picks and develop internally

In a literal sense you can't because of the 50 contract limit. You shouldn't either because then you're not taking enough UDFA and HFD chances, and you're not letting yourself get a bargain on the NHL level when it presents itself. There are places other than the draft to get talent.

I don't read too deeply into anything Gorton or any GM says publicly. It's all lip service and them trying to answer questions while giving as little actual insight as possible.

Gorton in particular seems to just try and talk in circles without really giving a concrete answer, which I'm, totally fine with by the way just stating how I see it.

Look at others like Bergevin saying PK won't be traded and trading him a couple months later.

Stone is further evidence that the old "we will just sign them for free in the summer" isn't something to bank on

pretty much what i expected

rebuild needs to move along

3 -5 yrs won't work

low 1sts and 2nds wont work and drafting wont build a team unless we have high 1sts

they can't draft anyway

buy players that other teams have drafted

i expect a crazy busy draft day where we move picks for players

sounds good to me since we've done very well with FA's and trades for other teams players.

I didn't even know MDZ was on the Ducks. And now he's in St. Louis.

And Simmonds going to Nashville. Damn.

In the past they'd absolutely sign one of the 10 million per year free agents to keep morale up in the building. I don't think Dolan really gives a shit about his teams anymore. He checked out.

People are worried about not having that top pick/prospect. I think that just hasn't happened yet. We could be in for a lot of losing over the next 4-5 years.

I'm not sure if people are trying to reverse jinx a sped-up rebuild so it doesn't happen OR if they want it to happen for new, fertile complaining opportunities.

2 nights to digest the deadline. Then a 3 game homestretch. Rangers have 20 games remaining in the season. In theory, they will have a tough road ahead of them minus Hayes, Zucc and McQuaid. Truth is, they just aren’t great at effectively Tanking…At least so far. Valiquette made mention to it in the last broadcast. The comment actually surprised me a bit. Something along the lines of “there are fans out there that just want them to lose, but this team has to much fight in them to lay down” It’s so accurate as to what we are watching transpire. I do think that Hank is going to deflate a bit down the stretch. Broke down emotionally in the interview. I don’t think Georgiev will. I would assume they are going to play Geo a bit. Also think the callups will be full of piss and vinegar. Looking forward to the potential lines. Want to see the kids get icetime and compete. Really would like to see someone emerge as a “Yeah, this kid is going to stick”

Wouldn’t mind seeing Coach Q roll out the below…

Kreider Zibanejad Buchnevich
Vesey Chytil Fast
Lemieux Strome Namestnikov
Brickley Nieves Andersson
Maybe work Beleksey in until Howden returns.

For the D
Skjei Pionk
Staal ADA
Smith Shatty
With Claesson working his way in and out.

How many wins does this team have left in them?

I'd say no more than 7.
