Huge let down. They only traded the upcoming UFA's and didn't get rid of anyone with any term. Now it'll be the same thing next year with Namestnikov/Strome/Fast/Kreider and we'll have less money available this offseason.

Who cares?

Look at the UFA market. With Panarin more or less a long shot for this team its almost for sure going to be a light summer UFA wise.

As far as Kreider goes, if they can't get him signed at their price this summer, they should move him. Don't wait until the deadline next year.

Carp says the Rangers are done, but no one else said they were (Brooks/Cyrgalis/etc.)

Soooooooooo... :dunno:

well thank goodness Kreider wasn't moved then because we probably would have gotten less than what the Sens got for Stone although Brannstrom is a terrific prospect.

Forgetting about Kreider and somewhat Fast I would literally be fine getting rid of Namestnikov/Strome for free.
With their cap hits relative to their production I doubt there is anyone out there making room for them via trade

We’re probably stuck with them until next year’s deadline where we could trade them for late round picks

Is it telling that Hayes didn't carry a resigning condition?

Seems to me that during the summer when Quinn didn't bother to visit Zucc in Norway, they knew all along that he wasn't in the plans to be resigned at anytime. 32 this summer. A deal taking him to 36+ isn't exactly the smartest sign. Thus the included condition with Dallas.

Hayes is 5 years younger. A big center who's improved his game. If he wants to come back it'll cost the team, but they just might. And they were able to land a 1st and Lemieux. Well see.

I give the deadline a straight, solid B.

Gorts made the moves he had to make, and got appropriate, if not superior, value for them as confirmed by the comparable transactions we saw go down. I give the Hayes and Zuccarello deals B+ each; the McQuaid deal, a B. Downgrade the overall deadline a bit, because I would've liked to have seen some movement of pieces like Namestnikov and Claeson, but no major loss and he still has all offseason for any additional moves.

Now, we root for Tampa and Dallas!

Branstrom has a world of potential but imo, if you're a guarantee to be elite in the NHL, you'd be elite in the NHL, like Pettersson or Dahlin.

Ok seeing how much of a buyer's market this was this season we should be beyond ecstatic that we were one of only two teams to get a first round pick.

And the Zuccarello return is just fine. The Simmonds trade is actually a return with bitching about.

All I think it signals is the complete lack of likelihood that he signs in Winnipeg. Laine, Connor and Trouba all need new deals.

What why? Both are excellent bottom 6ers that bring value to the club, especially Strome who I think has been terrific relative to expectations and what we got him for

I agree.

I wanna keep Kreider obviously, but extend him or move him.

Don't pull an Ottawa. Make a decision.

Stome is bad. Namestnikov is fine. Neither are worth paying 4M/year - nor are any bottom six players.
