Doubt it got beyond the inquiry stage.

"Is he willing?"

"No, he isn;t"

"Okay, so about McQ..."
“While our secretaries are hammering out the McQuaid deal, what’s going on with Lundqvist?”

“He’s not waiving”

“Alright, so, what’d you have for lunch?”

B-

My concern with where the Rangers are is too much quantity and not enough quality, but they were able to land a first, (and potentially two more long shot conditional 1sts) which in this rental market wasn't an easy thing to do.

Columbus coming out of nowhere to grab Duchene was a big help in that regard I believe.

They got what they could for Mats and pretty much broke even on McQuaid which was great considering he couldve been injured like 44 times during the season.

With Hank's cap hit and recent stats, it cant have been that much.
He's only making slightly more than Bob is now and less than Bob will going forward.

Plus Hank is a guy who has routinely delivered in the playoffs and Bob has crapped his pants every time he's appeared in the playoffs.

If they're gonna go all in, can't hurt for them to see if they could get the future Hall of Famer who is probably the best playoff goalie of all time to never win a cup. Past his prime or not, behind a good team Hank is still a difference maker.

Huge let down. They only traded the upcoming UFA's and didn't get rid of anyone with any term. Now it'll be the same thing next year with Namestnikov/Strome/Fast/Kreider and we'll have less money available this offseason.

Would you guys have been happy with Kreider for Brannstrom straight up?

They were probably unhappy with the offers, considering an extended Stone got basically just Brannstrom. I can’t imagime the offers for Kreider were better than they were for Stone.

Was hoping we would fetch something for Names but as mentioned seemed to be a Buyers market. I'm sure Gorton was being offered garbage for guys like Names.
All in all Not mad just wish we would have gotten more for Zucc.

I would say this deadline is C

Zucc deal is fine, Hayes deal is fine although I'm down on Lemieux for now

McQuaid was a total waste of 60 games but whatever

And we get to do it all over again a year from now with Kreider and whoever is left of Vlad, Fast and Vesey

Why are you down on Lemieux? Would you have preferred a first and a third?

I've always looked at Marcus Johansson as kind of a passenger. When he put up his best numbers it's because he got to play with great players. It's like Namestnikov playing with Stamkos and Kucherov though Namestnikov is grittier than Johansson. Marcus has been injured a lot the past couple years. Maybe he'll help the Bruins but I wouldn't have traded a 2nd for him let alone a 2nd and a 4th. Devils did well.

Rangers have 10 draft picks in '19 and 10 more in '20. Right now we have 2 1st's and 3 2nd's and two of the 2nd's might upgrade to 1st's--though I think Dallas would be a bit of a reach. Even if they all stay how they are the Rangers can conceivably move up in round 1 with either of their picks or combine a couple 2nd's and maybe get another 1st that way.

Glad we stood pat on non-UFAs to be. Market was terrible this year with a bunch of borderline terrible teams in the West. Tampa didn't feel the need to do too much, Toronto didn't either. There really weren't too many teams serious about buying.

Well hopefully if we are gonna sign Kreider its done soon or trade him at the draft. The other RFA's like Vesey, Names and Fast aren't gonna be super expensive (I wouldn't be heart broken if they lost Names). They are all bottom 6 guys.

TSN Top 20 that wasn’t moved…

#8 Jimmy Howard
#9 Codi Ceci - Every year this guy is mentioned often but yet he is still a Senator!
#10 Artemi Panarin- Never thought this would play out the way it did. Thought for sure Jarmo would move him.

#11 Jack Roslovic
#12 Michael Ferland- Really surprised Carolina didnt get something for him.
#13 Dougie Hamilton
#14 Jason Zucker
#15 Eli Tolvanen
#16 Ho Sang
#17 Mike Hoffman - Submits a ten team list, but is still a Panther.
#18 Adam Henrique
#19 Alexander Wennberg
#20 Johnathan Huberdeau

As I said, I hate that return for Ottawa, but at the same time, for Vegas, they're spending all these assets and money, and they don't have the centers to win anything.

To me, that's a team spinning their wheels.

Forgetting about Kreider and somewhat Fast I would literally be fine getting rid of Namestnikov/Strome for free.
