Fair enough. Trouble seeing where he fits in with Monahan, Hayes and Backlund ahead of him I guess.

On the wing with Backlund is just fine too. He’s already an amazing pker, we’ve been waiting for his 5v5 game to come along.

Calgary has no issue with using centres at wing hehe

So as of right now, the Rangers have:

1 first round pick
3 second round picks - two of which could become first round picks.

Let’s assume Hayes brings back a first.

That would give the Rangers 2 picks in the top 31 and 5 total picks in the top 62, with the potential to have 4 picks in the top 31.

Just to add on, those conditional 1st rounders would only be 28-31 and/or 31 too based on the conditions.

Interesting to know. I wonder if the delay at this point - assuming there is a delay; people were saying it’s a done deal, so I’m just speculating - is the Flames talking with Hayes’ agent.

Have to assume if the rumoured price is what it is, the Flames will want pen to paper.

Treliving is a great GM. I figure he won’t pay that handsome of a fee for no guarantee. One of promising young D is a big piece. Again, I assume it’s Kylington as he’s the most tradable one... but you never know?

Unfortunately, most lottery teams don’t usually exchange top prospects or first round picks. So we most deals are going to be latter third of the first round.

I think deep down, some people really believe we should be getting picks in the top 20 and top prospects for some of these guys. But the deals seldom line up that way.

Do retention slots open up in full once the season is over or is it 7/1 when a contract is up? The Rangers have used 2/3 (Spooner, Zucc) and I’d guess they use another on one more deal before the deadline. My concern is if they need to retain salary in a trade at let’s say the draft, will they be able to or would the rental retentions prevent them from doing so until 7/1?

Prout Just a contract so yea no.... not expecting an amazing prospect but a 1 plus a B level guy Atleast
Canadians are a generally a great people. High spirited, well educated, humorous, consciously aware and generous. Burning exception is their boneheaded homer views when it comes to ice hockey. One of the biggest mysteries of mankind

Gonna have to pray Zucc resigns there.
On one hand yes. For me, this literally is covering JG's butt. Why? Now, we probably won't be attempting to re-sign him, as it would shoot us in the foot.

Unless we KNOW Dallas isn't attempting, and we REALLY DO want him back......we may, but doesn't look like JG does.

I don't think the condition will have any bearing on whether or not we look to re-sign him this off-season.

I also don't think it will hugely impact Dallas' mentality.

Yea after this year Zucs retention is gone

I bet they retain on McQuaid actually then it’s gone too

So just Spooners 1 yr left

No problem retaining at the draft it goes into next yrs cap total

Dallas ain’t getting past the 2nd round, and Zucc is likely not going to re-sign there. This was not a good trade. Sorry if people disagree with me.
Sorry for quoting you, could have been 100 others as well.

We don't KNOW that yet from our side. (anything can happen) He "should have" done better, but we don't KNOW what was really on the table. Don't think he would have passed on say.......Kylington from Calgary for example.

A GREAT trade for Dallas though. At worst a 2nd and a 3rd.

1. They would be THRILLED to make 2 rounds and give the 1st.
2. Bides them a little time to see if he "fits" and that it is a mutual feeling about re-signing. (I kind of attest that to his known "love affair" with the Rangers. Would you "give away" a 1st that on the "off chance" he signs??.? If I could get away with it, I would. Otherwise, if its a fit...........GREAT, here is your 1st.
If NOT, it is just a 3rd, no big deal (on Dallas behalf)

Yeah, really quite the gamble JG......not a horrible one (imo) but, again......we really don't know what was offered otherwise.
I will give you the Benefit Of Doubt. Until we know otherwise.
