Maybe it's a larger deal.

They really don't have the space. Giordano, Hanifin, Brodie, Hamonic, Andersson, Kylington and Valimaki... Someone's the odd-man out.

Calgary is good. They're going for it. The west is theirs to lose .

Probably Brodie in the summer to avoid paying him. Not sure why they'd deal the younger guys who are all playing so well.

I still find it a little difficult to believe the Rangers can not find a way to take back cap hits for next year and increase the value in any deals.

Either those types of deal are not out there, or the Rangers do not want to do so. The first part I'd understand, the second not so much.
The only thing that makes me think “something else...” is BK saying ‘saving cap space for something unconventional’

And I have been harping on that for a week now

The only RHD the Flames have for young guns/prospects are Prout and Andersson. Everyone else is LHD.

This would require a team to actually need to send salary back.

We'll see what happens though, it's totally possible they'll be doing this on Monday.

To a point sure, but even here I would hope they'd have been asking about Hanzal, the more space Dallas has to re-sign Zucc the better the odds the condition is fulfilled

"A young defensemen" from Calgary could mean a lot of things. Far more likely to be a guy like Brandon Hickey who is a C level prospect and played for Quinn at BU than a guy who is eating minutes on their NHL roster.

I don't know about the rest of you, but right about now...

I'm not a big Stanley fan, but Hayes is a rental player so you take what you can get.

That being said, the "Omg another LHD? Gorton is so dumb!" stuff is nonsense. Until this team has 3 competent LHD on the roster they can, and should add as many LD prospects as they can get.
But we are stuck with those D assets. We can't trade them or turn them into other assets. And you know this is because Know nothing Quinn is insisting on 8 d men a game. Gorton is stocking up for the d heavy line up. One of those left d will play backwards so his stick faces the right side.

Sure who knows, not trying to say cap space is not an asset, now or future, just not sure I right now after this many whiskeys can come up with any real use for that space which can really make sense. Offer sheets cost rebuilding assets and hardly ever work... Other than that throwing 10m at Stone/Panarin sounds like stuff I have seen before which pretty much fails every time. Toews and Kane?

Really?

You don't believe it is somewhat likely that Zucc re-signs?

It’s certaibly within the realm of possibility.

But something tells me he is more likely to end up some place with a different...culture.

At the end of the day, my guess is that the offers centered around second round picks for Zucc and the Rangers took a little less to gamble on the possibility of maybe turning a pick into a first.

They’re obviously not going to make him an offer with that condition in there and that is the reason those sort of conditions should not be permitted by the CBA. It just drives down the number of suitors a player has.
