GDT: Official Trade Deadline Thread (4/2: Jagr to BOS; McBain a healthy scratch)

sure if we can move both of them and even out the salary? works for me.

I'm talking about RYAN CLOWE being the reason we have to move Gaborik.. Thats a ****ing awful idea if Ive ever seen one.
 
It would be ridiculous, and extreeeeemely tight, and would definitely require relying on a couple rookies and Sather working pure Magic on our RFA's contracts (which really besides Stepan, I think they'll get less than any of us really expect) but I think you could fit Clowe in at about 3.5 Million and still retain Gaborik for next season.

I also don;t know where you are getting this idea that Babchuk is better than McBain in all facets of the game other than skating. I think that "bomb of a shot" is clouding your judgement. Babchuk is very mediocre. He doesn't show up some nights. McBain holds more value than Babchuk. He closes off players, similar in the way McDonagh can. He has offensive ability and he is good positionally. I'll take McBain.

Yeah. Two sucky defensive defenders they activated. Now they look for a solid defensive defender.
Girardi or he will get traded to another team that is in need of a offensive defender, which can offer a stay-at-home roster player for Carolina.

Babchuk has one of the best first passes in the game today. Solid defensively.
Great passer and a bomb for a shot.
38 points in 99 games and a +18 plus/minus in Calgary.

I think he would thrive in a better team like Rangers.
Hell, you would even get him for a 5th round pick lol.

But it's just my opinion I just loved his play in Carolina a couple of years ago...

Gaborik should be moved anyways. That's not a Ryane Clowe thing. That's Rick Nash vs Marian Gaborik.

Gaborik,was going to be moved anyways. Now they have an actual top 6 Power forward LW

I don't necessarily disagree, but there's more to it than this IMO. He was injured in the off season and now he's having his worst season in a long time, plus he's a UFA in a year and the team needs to sign other players. I wouldn't be quick to trade him but it's not as simple as a 40 goal scorer having a down year.

How is Nash the reason Gaborik is/was going to be moved when they got him to put WITH Gaborik and take a run at the cup the next 2 years? We had money to keep Gabby and resign all our RFAs.. we dont 'know because of a guy with zero goals.
 
and since we now *have* to trade Gaborik because of cap reasons if Clowe is resigned, what makes anyone think we'll get the same amount in a deal back? Rangers *have* to get rid of him, teams will know this.

They needed the room and they weren't going to resign him anyways. They should move him to replenish the system. They will get a good package for him. 1st + easily which will make people forget what they have up.

with Hags getting 2.5, Stepan getting 3.5, and Mcdonagh getting 4, then with Clowe and gaborik, Rangers are 3M over the cap for next year. :shakehead
 
Uh oh, Pitkanen just went HARD into the boards in Carolina, carried off the ice. They might not be able to trade Mcbain anymore.

ok, lets say both return to their form.. Gaborik >>>>>>>> Clowe.
 
Not to mention they will have to give Zucc a raise if they want to bring him back.

CapGeek has us at 11,610,000 available for next year. Have to sign Hagelin, McDonagh, Stepan. Sign Clowe? Figure out what to offer Zucc and Sauer?

they dont have to trade Gaborik but they will trade Gaborik...........teams will line up to get him because the UFA list stinks

Since the initial Nash trade rumors the writing was on the wall. Crunch the cap #s the next two years. Then the lockout impact to prevent a cap raise next season.

2 runs with Nash and Gabby. Turned into one because Howson held out. Then turn the page.
