Yeah with Boyle and Pyatt.. I guess if we moved both of them for picks/prospects they might be able to do it. That frees up over 3.5M moving those 2.

How does moving them free up 3.5 mil? You running with a 18 man roster?

Steve Zipay ‏@stevezipay 2m

Read Blue Notes, or do some work and check the clips.RT @MVP_Media: @stevezipay Do you need to know any details other than he has 0 goals?

Laughed at this exchange between Zipay and a person he responded to. Zipay telling someone to do some work is hilarious.

I would like Torres, Glencross or Nystrom.

I think Nystrom is the most likely, followed by Torres.

Don't think we have enough assets now for Glencross.

Trading Glencross also means Calgary will have shipped out their C and two A's in one deadline, if that means anything. I think they want to keep Glencross and will unless they get a great deal.

What's more funny is that Zipay always seems to respond to the complete tools that tweet to him rather than those with legitimate questions... that he usually can't answer...

Nevermind.

Yes, it was a moronic question, I'm not even sure why I follow him.

We should go for Ott and Ian White...

Oscar Lindberg and Brian Boyle for Steve Ott

Matt Gilroy and next years 4th for Ian White

Mats Zuccarello - Derek Stepan - Rick Nash
Carl Hagelin - Brad Richards - Marian Gaborik
Ryane Clowe - Steve Ott - Ryan Callahan
Chris Kreider - Kris Newbury - Aaron Asham/Taylor Pyatt

Ryan McDonagh - Dan Girardi
Marc Staal - Michael Del Zotto
Anton Stralman - Ian White

Gordon, Ott, Goc

Ott would be too expensive to acquire, and his 3 million cap hit is just too much to take on for next season, but he is exactly the kind of guy I'd love to have centering the third line.

Gordon is great on FO's, but I see him as a great 4th line center, but he'd still be an improvement over Boyle or Miller centering the third, if we can get him cheap it'd be a good fit and you let him go in the summer.

Goc would be a decent fit too but I think we could get Gordon cheaper and his advantage in the faceoffs would be nice.

Think we could pry Andersson from Detroit for almost nothing? :sarcasm:

I can't stop laughing. I'm also grateful that you're not the GM.

Didn't one of our beat writers (Andrew Gross?) say that the we are looking to shed some salary and are going to trade away someone tonight? Any truth to that?

If you want a laugh, or maybe just to frustrate yourself because people are stupid, take a look at the Rangers FB. The comments on acquiring Clowe are priceless.

I wonder how much Filppula would cost from Detroit? He'd be a great addition on Center, and he's a UFA this summer. How much was he reported to be asking for in his new contract?

i think we'll be surprised by the signings..

Mcd 3.975m (Staal contract)
Hags 2m-2.3m
Step should get 3-4m for 3-5yr but will get 2.5-3m 2yr deal(Logan/Duchene etc) Slats doesn't overpay RFAs...

which is crazy when ROR is getting 5m AAV when Stepan is a way better player!
But i think it helps that Carlson/FOwler signed his deal bc rangers have leverage with that.. i think he'll take a Staal type deal.. and Hags wont be an issue at all..his contract demands will be similar to callahan when he said as a Group 2..but its crazy to think these guys dont try ad sign big contracts considering how across the league these guys sign these crazy deals they arent really worth..

clowe will prob be resiged for 3-4yr 9-12m

I would love to see this happen, and think something similar to it is a possibility. It still makes the cap hit a little tight and pretty likely that Gabby gets moved. But its by no means a guarantee... especially if Slats keeps the RFAs low and is able to move a few inflated cap hits (per production/value -- i.e. Boyle, Pyatt, Asham(?)), he might be able to just barely keep Gabby hanging around. To be clear - I'd rather he moves Gabby at the deadline for decent to good value, opens up cap space, and fills in holes we have in the roster currently. But for the sake of discussion - and helping out the guys freaking out about Gabby HAVING to be moved...

This is what I've got using capgeek (mostly looking at $$, not line combos). With limited changes (just getting rid of Pyatt), and relying a bit more heavily than I'd like on the young guys sticking (Kreider/Miller/Fasth/McIlrath) here's what it might look like. Just a bit over - Slats would still have to find some extra room:

FORWARDS
Ryane Clowe ($4.000m) / Brad Richards ($6.667m) / Marian Gaborik ($7.500m)

HE HAS ZERO GOALS! He also isn't Prust or Dubinsky!

true, definitely no Dubinsky!!..

Dubinsky couldn't score.
Dubinsky would stick up for teammates
Dubinsky has 1 goal this year, CLowe has 0.
Dubinsky would fight if need be.

Wait, ya know what, the Rangers basically just traded for Dubinsky.

Exactly! Would really like to add him, gives us three very solid lines.
