We should be standing pat. The best pieces have moved. Jagr is gone, ect. Everyone else is either mediocre or has a contract past this year.

Best thing to do is ride out, see what we can do this year, and try to build a slightly more reliable team next season. Unless SJ wants just Boyle and Pyatt for Clowe, I'm not too interested.

Why wait? If the Rangers feel they can get a player now who fits their system and they want here beyond the end of this season I say move on it. Clowe? Sure. Glencross? Okay. Torres, Nystrom and extend them? Sounds good to me.

But again, it all depends on cost. Pyatt and one of Boyle/Powe/Asham has to go.

J.T. Miller at 20 years old is an upgrade to center over Boyle any day of the week. He needs to go.
Wait...what?

I don;t think that's true at all. If guys like Glencross are out there they would certainly help this team.

BIGGEST advantage with Boyle is that he has been here a while. We make way too many bloody changes for it to be healthy.

Boyle can play 4th line.

Also, players take TIME to adjust. Look at Strålman for example. But also Prust. Boyle. And several others.

You gotta give guys like Pyatt and Powe time. It's NOT lottery tickets you get. No half arsed lateral move is going to improve this team.

We really need a RH PMD. We need a goon (this is the Atlantic) (McI?). Fasth, Zucc, Lindberg, JT Miller and Kreider are more or less new guys and 4 of them at least needs to be broken in the coming year or two. ON THEM we are spending a large chunk of the room we have to make changes and keep the chemistry intact.

Bingo.

No rentals. Acquire pieces that are here to stay.

I'd be happy with Clowe, Glencross, Torres, or Nystrom here for the next few seasons.

As Torts has said many times, we lost our middle of the lineup. These guys can refill it.

Completely agree. He's on a good contract and is on pace for like 30+ goals this season, pro-rated. Guys a consistent 20 goal scorer who is tough as nails and plays with an edge. He'd be great for this team both now and in the future. Much rather them go for him than Clowe.

Sorry. Pyatt can be here till 2015 and he'll still be the same blob he is today.

Boyle is fine as a 4c, but if a team REALLY wants him included, move him.

Then we'd have no 3rd or 4th line center on the roster. Newbury is lousy and Miller looks progressively worse with each game and really should be back in CT. You simply cannot trade Boyle without acquiring another center somehow.

I'm not looking to rely on guys who "can" play center to fill the void either.

Because the first rounder for Nash is unprotected, and because the team's "window" is this year and next, I see no problem "going for it" to get an extra piece or two that fits the team's needs and "system." I think I'd be exceptionally disappointed if we stand pat or just shed a few extra pieces.

Powe is fine as a 4c.

The Luongo Twitter account keeps tweeting. I'm not so sure, but perhaps he moves soon?

Either that or he's playing to his persona which is to constantly **** with everyone

No way we would get Glencross for that price.

Not on that contract imo.

It's going to cost at least a 2nd and middle prospect, plus hopefully a throw in roster player.

2nd + Thomas + Pyatt and i still think that might not pry him from CLG

Agreed. Giving up assets for anyone not younger and staying in NY for the foreseeable future is a horrible idea.

I think he is trying to communicate that he ate something, waited, and now has an emergency in the bathroom.

I'd would deal a 3rd and a mid ranked prospect for Close in a second. With zero goals this year he's still probably better than anyone in our current top six. He can play the puck, bring some physical presence, stand up for his team and yes, chip in some goals.

As far as extension, anything above $3.5M a year would be against my liking, I'm sure he'll get it though.

As a reminder, folks. Please check your sources before posting. Too many bogus Twitter accounts floating around.

Just as a rule of thumb RE: Twitter. Be on the lookout If a handle has a random underscore. That's usually a dead giveaway of a fake.

I think "fine" is the problem. You don't build quality teams with words like "fine" and "adequate" in the player profiles.

Well said. This stuff is not being thought through and its making my head ache, to be honest.

I mean, most of the posts are boiled down to "I want to get rid of Boyle, Pyatt, Asham, etc....and I want Player A, Player B, Player C to replace them."

TA-DA!!!!

Or if respectable adults capitalize every second letter for some reason...

Another dead giveaway - if you see a tweet that has been retweeted even though you know you follow that person, it's a fake.
