Iginla and Jbo were essentially trade for just first round pick. Jagr who is having a great season and would be the third leading scorer on this team went for a second. Compared to deadlines past this is nothing. Freaking Paul Gaustad went for a first last year.

Yes but Gaustad went for a 1st during a scarce market. There were more players available this year. Bigger names too. A lot of expiring contracts which was a big topic during the cba talks.

I want both Clowe and Glencross, two additions that would make this team better by a mile, as long as Boyle and Pyatt are ****ing outta here.

I know this was mentioned earlier

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun 1h
Chris Higgins deal in Vancouver worth $2.5 M per year

Good for Higgins.

Keep Boyle. Deal Pyatt.

what are the chances SJ says they want 2 F, Boyle and Pyatt plus a 3rd for Clowe........so on the roster they move 2 F out(Handzus to Hawks) and get 2 back.........they are still fighting for a playoff spot...........wishfull thinking?

Elliotte Friedman mentioned it in his "30 thoughts" columns.

Just checked it out.

As Glencross wouldn't be a rental, I'd assume that means Boyle would be gone, not necessarily to Calgary. He'd likely cost slightly less than what J-bo went for, but hey it's Feaster at the helm and Slats is a wizard. He could fleece him, in which case I'd be happy to have him here.

Contrary to the speculation the last few weeks, this has become a buyers market. I'd want to grab Clowe, Glencross (Nystrom if we miss out), a 3rd line C (I've been clamoring for Roy for weeks, upset he went on the cheap and Slats wasn't all over him), and McBain if hes actually available. The problem with getting Clowe and Glencross as I'm sure has been mentioned in this thread is Clowe wants to be signed by whoever trades for him. I'd rather Clowe over Glencross, but fitting both would definitely mean Gaborik having to walk after his deal is up, or be traded at the deadline next year. Not to mention we'd clearly have to move some roster players to fit everyone positionally.

Clowe and Glencross would fix our depth and toughness in an instant, and I would want them both here, but the biggest depth position we're having trouble with is center and I'm not hearing any rumors that address the problem. If they can acquire a 3rd line center we can run with Miller on the 4th line with Glencross or whoever and have 4 lines that can contribute.

Probably more than Prust, but you're right, somewhere in that ballpark.

Considering I have as many goals as him this season, anything over 4 is robbery by Clowe and his agent.

Yea a little more than Prust. 3-3.5, same term. I consider that the same, but guess i should have listed. 2.5 is a tad lower. Maybe a team will offer him 4+ but if he wants to contend he won't get that kind of money.

You can't score 0 goals in 30+ games and get top 6 or even more so, top 3 money anymore.

I say we hold on to Gabby and Richards for now - we may need them later..

Remember, this is isn't NHL 13 be a GM mode here..

This.

Only deal Boyle if you're getting an upgrade at center back. You don't give away NHL centers (oh wait, we gave just gave one away :help:).

Boyle's play, despite the haters, has been a lot better as of late. And I don't see centers out there that would make me want to move Boyle. Boyd Gordon was just mentioned on siriusxm by Tyson Nash. They discussed Gordon, Sullivan, and Torres as possibilities. I'd take Gordon but as the 4th line C. And even if we could bring in Ott, i'd want to keep Boyle as the 4th line center.

Here is my take:

Moving picks/prospects for players as rentals is an idiotic and archaic move. If the Rangers feel they would like to have Clowe for the next 3 years or so and want to move pieces for him, I say go for it. He would help fill a need in the top-9. Glencross would fit this team perfectly both now and moving forward.

Nystrom and Torres would be good IF they feel like they want to extend them beyond this season. Otherwise, stay away.

You can't trade Boyle unless you're getting a good center back. SJ can make a deal with someone else to get that 2nd forward back if they really want one. I can't speculate on what the deal would be for Clowe because SJ has been unrealistic from the beginning.

Do not move Boyle for any of these guys. You really want Miller or Powe at 3rd line C for the playoffs? Jesus.

Also is Glencross a LW or RW, or can he play both?

J.T. Miller at 20 years old is an upgrade to center over Boyle any day of the week. He needs to go.

Out of everyone on the bottom-6, Asham and Boyle should stay. Powe can stay as well unless a team wants him. Pyatt needs to go. Kreider and Miller down.

Laughable. Miller is not putting up anything offensively and has been a train wreck defensively.

Not really. Miller has been terrible lately.

He doesn't "need to go". That's asinine. Getting rid of Boyle gets rid of one of the only capable PKers on this team, and it gets rid of our 4th line center. For what reason? Because you "don't like him"? It's ****ing ridiculous at this point.

The more you guys talk, the more i want glencross. I wonder what the asking price/realistic price is for him.

2nd and prospect? 2 thirds, roster and prospect?

We should be standing pat. The best pieces have moved. Jagr is gone, ect. Everyone else is either mediocre or has a contract past this year.

Best thing to do is ride out, see what we can do this year, and try to build a slightly more reliable team next season. Unless SJ wants just Boyle and Pyatt for Clowe, I'm not too interested.
