Adding both seems more like a plan for a 1st place team, not a 8th place team.

At this point it has nothing to do with positioning in the standings. This team has needed that type of depth and grit all year and even moving forward for next year.

And the 1st place type teams have made their moves for Iginla and Jagr.

anyone here know the latest what the value for clowe is supposed to be? last i heard was the coutorier(sp?) and a 1st. dont know if it changed or not. als

Prices too high? Players have been going for nothing basically so far.

1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks are not nothing. The players thrown into those deals are mostly 'nothing'.

And again, we're not talking about star players, just complimentary pieces to already solid teams.

Pass on Clowe. Stand Pat, No trades, Prices too High. Lets keep our assets

The prices are not high though. Especially if you can bring in a player who will be around longer than 12 games.

Just as a note, Curtis Glencross has 14 goals so far this season. On the Rangers, that would be tops on the team. In the previous two seasons, he has scored 24 and 26. He knows how to put it in the net. Anyone suggesting that he would be a 4th liner on this team is seriously underestimating his offensive abilities.

Glencross would be a fan favorite here. Easily. People may not get to watch him consistently but he is a spark-plug, North-South player. Perfect Torts player like Callahan. Heart and Soul.

Adding both seems more like a plan for a 1st place team, not a 8th place team.

This team should not be an 8th place team. Moving forward, even after this season, they will be expected to be better than they have been. Will a couple of these moves, if the players stick around, aide them in getting to where they should be? I think so.

Correct. But for players like Iginla and Jagr who are the cream of the crop to return a late 1st + low end prospects and a 2nd + low-end prospects means players like Nystrom, Clowe, and possibly Glencross may not cost a ton either.

Nick, no alcohol before 5. RT @cotsonika If you're SJ, would you trade Clowe-Boyle for Gaborik? You need speed. You move Burns back to D. Hm

He's right.

That would be a terrible move for the Rangers.

Frolov wanted 4 year 22 million before settling on 1 year 3 mil, but I don't think we'd be interested in re-upping Clowe at anything North or 4 million per.

Iginla and Jbo were essentially trade for just first round pick. Jagr who is having a great season and would be the third leading scorer on this team went for a second. Compared to deadlines past this is nothing. Freaking Paul Gaustad went for a first last year.

I don't think there is any way in hell he gets that after his performance this year.

Especially with the new CBA and supposedly shrinking cap. He's lucky if he gets 4 mil per for 4 years IMO.

I think he's looking at Prust money.

He'd easily get more than that. Probably would get $4.5M from a lot of teams. He's broken 50+ points several times.

Please stay away from Dan Boyle. People are upset with what has happened with Richards who seemingly aged overnight, the same could happen to Dan Boyle.

Excuse my ignorance here but what exactly are we offering for guys like Clowe or Glencross.

We don't have a 1st round pick, and the guys everyone wants to move like Powe, Pyatt, Boyle whoever are not big pieces.

I think he is looking at a similar contract to what he has now. 3-3.5 million

Probably our 2nd and a prospect or two.

Probably more than Prust, but you're right, somewhere in that ballpark.

Considering I have as many goals as him this season, anything over 4 is robbery by Clowe and his agent.
