Well said. This stuff is not being thought through and its making my head ache, to be honest.

I mean, most of the posts are boiled down to "I want to get rid of Boyle, Pyatt, Asham, etc....and I want Player A, Player B, Player C to replace them."

TA-DA!!!!

No, most proposals and suggestions are not thought through. It's very easy to say player a, b, or c would look good on this team, and trade x, y, z, they suck. The loss of depth in the off-season should be a stark reminder that there are consequences for getting rid of players and bringing in new ones, no matter how good or fitting they are for NYR.

However, if anyone here had the capacity to see the team and make moves in the same manner people hired within the organization do, they'd probably have a job in hockey rather than posting here. With that being said, should we just curb all discussion of trades and roster movement because no one here is really qualified to be an NHL GM? Obviously not, so it should be expected that there will be a myriad of conversation that sounds nice, but isn't really well thought out.

I'd would deal a 3rd and a mid ranked prospect for Close in a second. With zero goals this year he's still probably better than anyone in our current top six. He can play the puck, bring some physical presence, stand up for his team and yes, chip in some goals.

I assume you meant Clowe, not Close (Glenn?)? If so, I... What is this... I don't even...?

Edit: Boom. Beat all of you to it.

As far as extension, anything above $3.5M a year would be against my liking, I'm sure he'll get it though.

I...what?

Clowe probably wouldn't even be in the top-6 if he came here. Third liner. Unless Zuccarello does a complete 180 and stops playing well.

Better than anyone in our top six? Nash? Stepan? Callahan?

I think he meant bottom 6. I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

I would have certainly dropped a 5th for Drewiski.

Boom.

If we get Gleason AND Clowe, where would Hagelin play...

Gleason would probably earn a spot on the 3rd line. I don't see how Clowe doesn't earn that right off the bat immediately as well. Neither Gleason or Clowe is a center, meaning Boyle would be their center. Hagelin would then look to be the odd man out. No bueno. Those advocating for both, it would be great in principal, we just have way too many wingers right now and not enough centers.

I love trade deadline, but my brain tells me were going to overpay and i'll be pissed.

Either way, im smiling like a school boy. Love this time of year!!

dont watch much sharks game, how good really is clowe

does he show up every night, generally what type of player does he remind you of

I would suspect SJ will get some draft picks, including additional or conditional pics, if Clowe re-signs with team that acquires him.
