Sometimes other teams have good trade deadlines too.
Right, some people I guess just think every other GM must have to be terrible or something. While there are plenty of bad ones, the good ones like JBB, Zito, etc know how to get good value out of their deals.

Seth Jones also..... they also get Tkachuk back in the playoffs too, that's 2 top-6 players and a top-4 defenseman. Crazy adds from Florida, minimal from TO but they already have a loaded roster.
I think right now it's Florida > TB > Toronto.

Avoiding Florida in Round 1 seems to be the best thing we can do right now. Ideally the Leafs and Panthers will gut each other in round 1 while we play a safer series against a WC team.

Florida intelligently used Tkachuk's ltir situation. It is what it is. Tampa and most other contenders have and would've done the same.

Yeah that's the ideal strategy, as big a joke as Toronto is Tampa is the one team I don't think they're mentally scared of. They know they can play their game against us and they've won, I'd rather take a bloodbath with Florida after they have to go through TO, Vasi seems to have an easier time with them.

Leafs are a bit of a wild card this year because Berube appears to have beaten the perimeter game out of them. And they've learned to "park the bus" (basically the Cooper shell). We will see if that holds up with their star players when murder gets legalized in the playoffs. But they might not roll over for tougher defensive teams the way they used to.

I think we had a fine TDL. No complaints about our additions nor the cost. Yanni probably has one or two more seasons and Bjorn is going to be a monster for us for several more years. This is good JBB by not overreaching like Jeannot. Now let's try to win the division so Toronto and Florida can beat the hell out of each other.

That hasn't been the case in years, playoffs have been calling everything lately. It's PP galore.

I don't really mean infractions. I just mean how tough it is to get to the net without sacrificing physically. "Legal" was probably not the best word choice.

It's the Laffs for God's sake. The minute the calendar flips to May:

Lol

It was after the Bruins series that Keefe said "they gave us an opportunity to beat ourselves and we took it." It's basically what we did to them (the Cooper shell). Give the Leafs stars the perimeter, and they'll just stay there harmlessly. (...which works when your goalie can't stop floaters from the point, but i digress...)

I don't know if that will be true this year. Keefe seemed to understand the problem but couldn't get the players to buy in to fixing it, but Berube is a much different messenger.

I wouldn't want to burn a season of his ELC.

I'd think he goes with an AHL ATO, and he tries to make the NHL in camp.
Save that man like you said. He needs to be here next season to learn from Point, Yanni, Oliver, etc. Let him start down the lineup and work up. He's got the talent, kid just needs to beef up a bit more and learn.
