JBB was playing the long con with the Jeannot trade. Now everyone has to overpay
Not discrediting them, but I don't see them as good as last year, but still quite good. Tampa is also considerably better than last year, so as I said, I still like Tampa's chances.I'm pretty sure being the defending champs and being atop the league all season have made them clear favorites for awhile, not sure how you discredit that just cause.
I didnt get what was a point for this trade. They gave away great Necas, and now are sitting both without Necas and Rantannen, like last season without Guentzel? What was a point for all those moves?Big moves on paper are impressive but what matters is does it work on the ice. We were thrilled when we got Savard but he wasn't all that impressive that playoff run. There's many examples of a huge moves not panning out. Rantonen to Carolina being the most recent example.
I completely disagree on the Leafs, I think both of their moves don't move the needle that much and they gave up a lot more than we did to get them. Florida is probably going to win the cup thoughIf TB is done, it's disappointing to see their two biggest divisional threats improve even more than we did. Marchand & Jones are bigger additions than Gourde & Bjorkstrand, and I would put Laughton/Carlo at least on par with that. Bolts got better, but did not gain ground on the top contenders. That sucks after what was an exciting Wednesday. Very bummed that BriseBois did not address the glaring lack of size and grit, it will absolutely bite us in the ass come playoff time unless we get fortunate matchups. Too small, too soft, even though there's plenty of heart.
Hopefully we win the the division and let Toronto and Florida beat up on each other a bit. I will give us a chance, but it depends on Vasy at his best.

Yeah, top 9 looking better. D is better than last year with Mac back and the addition of Moser.Tampa made the moves I hoped they would. They didn't have a great amount of space afterwards. They improved 2 holes in their top 9, and while yes, improving the 3rd pairing would've been nice, the team has been fantastic defensively this season compared to last, amd Vasy (last night's game not withstanding), is looking like peak Vasy again. Regardless of what Toronto and Florida did, JBB gets an A for this deadline, and Tampa is once again primed for a deep run
Maybe JBB watcehd Hagel beats ass of Tkachuk and after that declined trade for Maroon. Also Lilly can fight but yeas we are softer on paper tha Florida, dont know about TorontoDepth D would have been nice, but remember our big D move was Moser. If our top 4 is healthy they're gonna play 50 minutes
Problem is we have 0 fighters. We have some gritt but we are a pretty small team. Our entire top 6 is like 5'9 lmao.
Playoffs get heavier, not always about speed, more about survival
Leafs were looking really good to begin with so they didn't need any major additions, and didn't take away from their current roster (besides a 6-7D). Laughton is a solid, versatile 3rd liner and anytime you can add a top 4 RHD in his 20's with some size, that's significant. They paid a price but that's what you gotta do.I completely disagree on the Leafs, I think both of their moves don't move the needle that much and they gave up a lot more than we did to get them. Exactly what did you expect him to do with less than a million in cap space? Even if we do do something, it's not really gonna be a needle mover. We already made that move.
lmao you srs
Even Boston fans say he sucks now. After his concussions he's been on a steady decline the whole time. I'd much rather take their opinion than yours.lol, ok.
Boston fans have horrible takes left and right, I don't trust their opinions one bit and it's not all of them saying that. Relying on HFBoards saying someone sucks is crazy. In the real world, he's still every bit of a fine 2nd pairing D. Not a superstar, did take some injuries, but still relatively young and the body of work speaks for itself. Not long ago plenty of people thought he was great shutdown 2nd pair who flew under the radar. Saying he sucks is ridiculous, and I'm not even that high on him.Even Boston fans say he sucks now.
