It's definitely going to be tough. Rich deserves better but he's a very loyal guy and they've been together for 16 years. If he stays on the show with a new cohost, Fred absolutely will end their friendship, I definitely see him as being that vindictive and petty. If Rich walks with Fred, the station is going to be screwed having to fill the timeslot, so they'd probably have to give him financial and creative incentive to stay. It's going to be hard on him to make that decision.

Anything would start with Lockhart getting re-hired, it's complete bullshit that Rich is paying his salary because the station is cheap. I don't know who else they'd get, like James Stewart or maybe trying to bring Crash back from Atlanta. Or a complete outsider. If they could land Michael Holley it'd be a coup but I don't know if he'd want to do mornings every day.
They can’t afford to lose Rich. They have to give him creative control and that will start with re-hiring Lockhart like you said as well as a pay bump for Nick. I’d still really like a Rich/Hardy morning show. Dump Fred and that weasel Wallach who I also thought came off really bad today even tho Fred threw him under the bus.

So ya have Rich/Hardy and give an up and comer like McBone or McCarthy the full time afternoon headline gig. Rich/Hardy with their combined creativity could be a great show.

They let him back on the radio and now he’s getting a personal steamer to use in the studio.

Heard that this morning.

Seemed like he, Rich, and Jon were cordial, or at least professional.

I’m tired of the “woe is me” schtick.

But maybe it makes for compelling radio?
Cordial is a good way to put it. I really wish they’d yank him for a week or two to rest his voice. It’s awful.
After yesterday I wonder if HR is involved at this point.

love Boston Comedians. bring back shock radio
Opie & Anthony were not funny - they were d bags who appealed to the ass clown crowd

Nicky Dipolo is funny - O&A funny if you are 13-18. I don’t know one adult who thought they were funny and I’m a man of the people and funny

Hardy might work there, I do like him. But there could be a number of options.

The thing that makes T&R great is that even though they do talk sports and are integrated with the sports community, they're not primarily a sports show - they're professional morning DJs. The other shows are sports journalists or athletes who talk on the radio, T&R are radio guys who talk sports. That's the tonal difference and why they're smoother to listen to than Zolak and Betrand for example (and I do like Zo, don't get me wrong, I just don't listen to his show the way I listen to the morning show). So if they have to get a replacement for Fred, I don't think it necessarily has to be an internal sports-first guy, they could match Rich with a good radio host who has an interest in sports and local culture.

Fred is terrible, Wallach doesn’t know sports - they are unlistenable

Zo is fantastic on football sucks on the other 3

Bertrand is the worst

Hardy is good

F&M balance trolling with some reality but both have got interests and families where they aren’t following the teams much as should (I don’t blame them but they are mailing it in)

Felger still pretty good though - his ‘Belichick has surrounded himself with his kids, his friends, and his friends kids’ iconic line

Rich is in the hardest position ever. Obviously never anything this public, but I've been in a work situation with an old friend where they spiraled and I was seen as a promotion candidate (we both were prior). As he stopped getting invited into management meetings, but I still was, it got really rough. He got worse. The end result was we both left the company for different destinations and the friendship is effectively gone (fizzled, not a blow out, we'd still be friendly running into each other but we don't go out of the way to hangout).

I feel for Rich. I'm a big fan of Hardy but they both seem to be producers/content generators. Is that too much of the same type of strength for one show? I don't know.

I left the commuting world for a full time work from home situation years ago and don't pick up sports radio until after the morning show but seeing the downfall of Fred in leaps & bounds via this thread sucks. That's a guy that needs to step away and get some real help IMO.

Probably not, maybe a talking to by management but that was minor in the grand scheme of what local sports radio guys have said in recent months.

Is this really an issue

People are so freakin soft

Trump makes fun of disabled person and 60 M people overlook it

I’m not a Gresh fan but this is nothing
I don't think anything will happen to him. Then again, I also thought Mazz wouldn't get suspended. I can't imagine TMZ or the Boston Globe running with this.

Your people ?

>states an objective fact that they made a career being shock jocks
>"DOES THAT MEAN YOU SUPPORT EVERYTHING THEY DID?!?!?!1?"

Jesus, is it possible to simply state an objective fact about their careers without the "HURR DURR YOU SUPPORT EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM!!1!" nonsense that goes on with the internet nowadays. Whether you like them or not, they made millions just like Stern did by being shock jocks on terrestrial and satellite radio. I won't lie, I listened to Opie and Anthony back in the day. They were entertaining to listen to. Does that mean I sign off on every opinion they have or every bit that they did and so on? No. The fact that I even need to make that statement is absurd and shows how ridiculous and poisonous discourse is on anything. And I say that fully self aware with how I am when I talk about baseball on here. I'm no better.

PS, not one of them touched CP. You're thinking of David Portnoy.
